Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook

Based on your description regarding with "Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook" after thorough research and testing I found that you are definitely right, this particular setting only exists in the classic Outlook and is not yet available in New Outlook for Windows at this moment You may add folders to Favorites to make it easier to keep track of the folders that are most important to you. Adding a folder to Favorites doesn’t move the folder, but instead creates a link to it. Folders added to Favorites are still in your personal folder. To add a folder to Favorites, right-click the folder under your personal folder, and select Add to Favorites.

Then after adding to favorite To reorganize folders in Favorites, choose a folder and drag it to a new position in the folder hierarchy. Or right-click a folder and then select Move up in list or Move down in list.

Kindly understand that New Outlook is in a Preview state, and they are still working on the platform/foundation of the application itself. At this stage of the development, luckily, installing updates and restarting the client is very quick. As an alternative, you can switch back to "Classic" Outlook by turning New Outlook Off

I agree with everything users wrote above.

Just want to add that I have many nested folders grouped by categories. If I drag a parent folder to Favorites it doesn't allow to see and move to child ones from there.

It would be unuseful to move child folders to Favorites because they are too many and their name makes sense only inside the parent folder.

I would also like to bump the important of this, as my file naming convention has been automatically sorted, which causes isssues. Example below:

Old Outlook

5.1.1.

5.1.2.

5.1.3.

5.2.1.

5.2.2.

5.3.1.

etc....

New Outlook

5.1.1.

5.1.10.

5.1.11

5.1.2.

5.1.21.

5.1.22.

5.1.3.

Not sure why the automated sorting is prioritising the first number in the string.

Hi All

I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.

Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).

Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.

It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.

Can anyone assist?
