After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

Someone must gave been listening in Microshaft, the problem I reported yesterday (above) has been fixed. I can now share web pages/links via clicking Share and a new email opens withe the subject and link properly embedded.

    Yesterday I was on version 16.76.1 (23081800) -

    Today I am on version - 16.76.2 (23082700)

Unfortunately the update appears to have fixed nothing else.

I too get the say frustrating "downloading" issue indefinaetly with New Outlook

I've found that the workaround is to close Outlook, and then reopen it. :-(

    Pain in the neck

Hi folks. I guess it's good this thread is being kept alive ... even though no one at Outlook or Yahoo et al seems to give a hoot about our issues.

I continue to limp along using the "new" Outlook, and one of the most annoying things of so many is that after I download my email from Yahoo into Outlook, and start trying to open mail in Outlook, I get the spinning thing and "Downloading" that can go on indefinitely. My "fix" is to routinely click back to Yahoo and open the emails from there.

Just absolutely unsat and ridiculous. Is Microsoft's actual long-term plan to remove Outlook from its suite of products? Because this would be an excellent way to do it. Screw up the legacy version till it's unusable ... force users to the new version which doesn't vaguely resemble the original product and is also mostly unusable ... and have users gradually drift away to other products. Good way to kill off a product, I guess, but also a good way to cause incurable damage to your reputation.

I'm joining the line on this case.

Seems that the sync is broken with Yahoo mail on outlook. Gmail is fine, no issues with IMAP in general.

Keeps sending my changes (delete mail, read mail etc.) again and again, but then the mails coming back again like new mails. So there is definitely some sync issue between the app and yahoo's server.

Tried to recreate my app password, delete and re-create the account under outlook, same issue over and over.

Not sure how to troubleshoot further though.

I have been involved, reported, complained about this problem (along with many others) since May. All we got from Microshaft was a have baked and work in progress solution called “The New Outlook”.  We should be happy these people aren’t practicing medicine.

I switched to the New Outlook awhile back and I’m still waiting for all it’s functions to work.  Now a new problem just cropped up after a recent update where the Profile settings were messed with.  Related or not, I can no longer send/share a web page link, regardless of browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) via email no matter which Outlook email account is the default. All I get is a new Outlook email with the subject filled it but no link nor can I enter any text in this dead email.  All my accounts are active in my Outlook profile.

I am reaching the breaking point now and exploring Thunderbird.

     I am on version 16.76.1 (23081800)
