After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

Just noticed there was another minor patch that showed up when I checked for updates. Nothing on Microsoft's Update History page about it yet. The last one they show on their site is 16.74.23061100 which was released on June 13. This new one is 16.74.23061800. (According to their site this means it was built on the 18th.) Not holding my breath, but I'll give it a shot tonight and maybe it will fix something...

If you had success with Apple mail I may consider it. Still working on closing my Yahoo accounts but it will take some time. You don't realize how many places you have set up to recieve emails or use your emails to access apps and accounts till you need to move it all. I'm about 95% complete with the rest mostly junk or odd ball. I'm still using Classic Outlook with only my Yahoo's left overs still syncing then stopping then syncing again to double and triple a single email. I just go into Yahoo web and usually deleting everything with a few needed emails. I don't suspect Yahoo, AOL or Microsoft will do anything since it's been this long with the problem. If Outlook becomes too much of a problem and I can migrate to something else then I may cancel my Microsoft 365 as there would be no value if too frustrating to work with.

I gave up and switched to Apple Mail yesterday for my AOL and Yahoo accounts. When you set up the account in Mail it asks if it is an iCloud, Exchange, Google, Yahoo or AOL account. It is pretty much automatic and just a matter of signing in to set it up from there. I did need to go create an app-specific password in Yahoo and AOL's security settings to use with Mail for both accounts. I left my Exchange account in New Outlook as it seems to work fine. I may move it to Mail eventually, but since it is for work and not personal, I don't check it a lot from home anyway. My Yahoo account went seamlessly. The AOL account said it wasn't connected, but ironically downloaded all my messages/folders anyway. Once I quit Mail and started it back up it said it was connected and everything seemed to be working fine. It was amazing how fast all my mail/subfolders populated in Mail. Almost instantaneous. Compared to it taking all day Saturday and a lot of Sunday when I tried to load them into New Outlook, and I had to click on each folder individually and wait for it to load the contents. I'm glad some of you are having luck with the New Outlook, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me. Maybe I need to apply the latest patch and see if that resolves the syncing issue? I think I am one step behind the update that came out last week. I may give that a try this evening.

I don't use Rules, but I knew I saw mention of them somewhere in Outlook, so I went looking. (I found them under the Message tab, for those who may not know.) I checked, and it says rules aren't supported for my sbcglobal.net (Yahoo) account, however, they ARE supported for my Exchange account.

FYI. I switched again to New Outlook using IMAP instead of Microsoft Sync.

Yes, it is stable and the folders work properly.

However, Rules are still not supported in either IMAP or MS Sync. They worked perfectly in Legacy Outlook.

So now it's back to the drawing board and waiting for Microsoft to either fix the issue in Legacy Outlook our at least provide the Rules feature in New Outlook.
