After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

if you see the server names, it is imap. If it just has a few lines - account name, and address mostly, its cloud sync. If you don't need to sync calendar & contacts from every IMAP account, set up the ones you only need mail for as imap.

Did you try it? The only way we'll know if it works is if multiple people try it and report that it fixed it.

That command just turns indexing off and back on, correct? It doesn't purge or reset it?

I cant test it - my Yahoo is working fine in my Outlook - but I've been using the new Outlook for months.

I have not tried it, Diane, no, but the OP is also reporting that it's not a permanent workaround, just that it slows the resyncing to once per hour instead of once every fifteen minutes or randomly...which is still better than nothing! I will try it later when I get a chance, and I will let everyone know how I did with it.

Is it possible that there might be a backdoor fix here? This was submitted by Mgoblue23 on the other thread that I subscribe to, https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/create-failed-mailbox-exists-trash/c8e10ed4-720f-4106-90a1-c95c97679368?page=9, it almost sounds too good to be true:

I found a fix that worked for me. I transferred data from old MacBook to new MacBook running Ventura 13.4 and Outlook for Mac 16.73. I was having the same issues, where my ATT (Yahoo) Imap inbox and folders would disappear every 15 minutes or so, and then would reload. I tried every suggestion on this thread, and every other thread, and it still didn't work. Another issue I was having was I wasn't able to search for emails within Outlook. After researching that error, I found a fix that has corrected both the Imap and search issues. I'm shocked, but I'm all good now thank god. I had to wait more than an hour for the fix to work, but it did. I did NOT switch to the new Outlook. LMK if anyone has any luck.

Open Finder and go to Applications - Utilities - Terminal and type the following commands (Press Enter after typing each command).sudo mdutil -a -i offsudo mdutil -a -i onNote: When prompted for a password, please type the Mac user password. This would be invisible. Please type the same and hit enter.Once done, restart the mac computer and wait for about an hour and check for the behavior.

I asked the OP for an update...let's hope it still works!

They all (one account through Microsoft's Office subscription; one "Outlook.com" account that is "free"; three GMail accounts) show up in Tools > Accounts. Until I deleted it, the Yahoo account also showed up here. I believe I'm using Microsoft cloudy synch because I recall a notice saying that Microsoft would be sent my information or something along those lines.

My Outlook synchs email and calendars. (Contacts is a bit complicated because I've used the Contacts app on the Apple devices and synched using Google. Because Outlook doesn't synch contacts, I manually update the Contacts app as necessary and manually copy email addresses when necessary.)

Given the above and your statements, I'm not sure if I'm using IMAP or Microsoft cloud synch.
