After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

    This so frustrating! I have been following/contributing to this post just about since day 1. The only common dominator I can think of is Yahoo mail is only POP3 (somebody correct me of I am wrong).  Me thinks either Yahoo, or more likely Outlook 365 for the Mac, which is specific to the Mac, can no longer process POP3 mail.

    The other issue is I suspect Outlook 365 for the Mac with a Yahoo account is not a popular combination and therefore it may not get a lot of attention.  Just my opinion.

    I’m already exploring other email clients where I can port my Yahoo account to. I only have held on this long because I have local PST files but as I found out it is not a straight forward process to retrieve them in a PST format from an Apple system.

    I’m 80 years old and surly don’t need this ****!

    Just an FYI, on May 25 I received an email from AOL to check out their, "Awesome inbox changes". I assume this applies to their app and website, but wonder if the way they've restructured things has impacted Outlook? Haven't seen anything from Yahoo about changes to their format though, so maybe that's just a coincidence...

    Katherine Newman, Mail comes down to the Mac fine from the servers, but any changes made on the Mac are not being synched back to the server. For that reason, I've been keeping my Outlook in offline mode most of the time on my Mac. I turn it online periodically to download all the new emails, but I don't make any changes to emails from the Mac, it is for viewing purpose only until they get this fixed. I make any changes (delete emails, move them to folders, flag for follow-up, etc.) from my phone after I've dealt with what I need to on the laptop. Hope that helps. Not the most efficient way to work, but it is what it is for now.

    I thought it was just me but, after reading the numerous posts here, I realize that it's a much larger problem. UGH. Has anyone found a work around, or is everyone still sitting in limbo waiting for either Microsoft or Yahoo to create a fix? This is beyond frustrating!

    Gee, are they "forcing" the new Outlook?

    I have many local folders that I do not want to lose and the new Outlook ignores them.

    Also, there was an update applied today--16.73.23052700--and all the problems that have been discussed in this thread continue.

    I now have my inbox vanish, come back, and anything I delete or move in Outlook is unaffected on the Yahoo! mail server, deleted mail comes back when the folder does appear, and I also now have duplicates of many folders within my inbox.

    I have two Macs, but running MacOS 13.3.1 and Outlook 16.73.1. One works fine; the other has the same problem as everyone else.

    The one that works fine has been on the crappy "New" interface for a long time. The broken one suddenly switched to New Outlook one day, and I had to revert to the classic interface. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.

    I believe the issue is with connecting to the outgoing SMTP server. It receives messages just fine. The trouble starts when you want to return a change to Yahoo (delete, move, reply, etc.).

    This is driving me crazy!!
