Text disappears or distorted while typing on Outlook (Office 365)

I've found a "work-around" on reddit that fixed this issue on my nvidia and AMD desktop

On the nvidia panel, Go to program settings, under Manage 3D settings, select Microsoft Word/Microsoft Outlook and other 365 app you're using with this problem

Search the "Low latency Mode" option, and put it to "On"

Restart your application, and it should be fixed

Its the same things with AMD, the option is called "Anti-Lag"

Well, hallelujah! I think that worked. Thank you for sharing it. Hopefully it stays fixed. It has been an infuriating experience and made Office borderline unusable since I installed my AMD 6900 XT eight months ago.

I went ahead and added explorer.exe and dwm.exe and chrome.exe as "games" and enabled anti-lag mode for them as well.

So far it seems good. I think this may be an idiotic feature of Windows 10/11 21H2 and newer trying to enforce their stupid "save the planet" nonsense. I think the already-too-aggressive power management AMD employs (ULPS) with their GPUs makes it worse, but some people have reported the same issue with NVIDIA cards.

So, just for good measure, I did the same on the other desktop running a 4090 and added all of the Office apps to NVIDIA Control Panel, disabled power management for each, enabled low-latency and set "Prefer Maximum Performance" to help ensure nothing stupid starts happening there.

I have this problem with an NVIDIA RTX A2000 and Outlook 365.

My NVIDIA RTX A2000 driver is 528.89 and my Outlook 365 version is 2302 Build 16.0.16130.20332 64-bit.

It's extremely annoying when the text disappears while typing or becomes corrupted.

As the original poster says, scrolling the mouse up and down fixes it, but it happens all day.

Would really love a fix to this!

Hi there. Thank you for the reply, and I am sorry to hear to you also experiencing the same issue. In the end, I found the issue was indeed with the AMD driver (I have the Radeon 6500XT graphics card). One or two updates, say maybe 2 months ago, something in their driver set created this problem. Very maddening and puzzling in that this only affected Outlook 365, not any of the other components. I removed the driver and all it's various features, rebooted, let windows install its driver and Voila, the problem disappeared. Sorry that it didn't work for you!

Hello, I too struggled with this exasperating issue. It only occurs in Outlook 365, not Word, Excel, etc. on pc. My notebook was perfectly fine and runs perfectly well with Outlook. The final action that worked is to remove the latest AMD driver, then just use the windows driver that gets automatically installed. Something in the I'd say the last two versions of the AMD driver is causing this problem. Maybe this will action will help.
