Task bar moved from bottom of screen to the side of screen (I can not figure out how to fix this)

The change is for many reasons, but the big ones are to bring consistency across apps e.g. Teams, OWA, Outlook.com, etc. and a better location for integrated applications.

You can set it back to the bottom if needed, Outlook for Windows: New location for the Mail, Calendar, People, and other modules (microsoft.com).

Set back to the bottom: File, Options, Advanced, uncheck Show Apps in Outlook. Restart Outlook.

As jarring as it is to initially see, it works well when you get used to it. We had the same feedback internally but after everyone tried it, now most prefer it in the new location.

This new view is absolutely atrocious and the most awful amendment I have ever experienced in a microsoft product. its an abysmal downgrade.

I could not agree more. The location is counterintuitive, and the mouse movement required to go to the outside top corner is a time sucker. In addition, the vertical bar occupying the entire vertical length of the screen needlessly consumes valuable space needed to display folders, message headers, and message previews, especially when the Outlook window is snapped to the far left.

Yikes! Having the task bar on the side is just awkward for me at this point but I'm sure I'll eventually get accustomed to the side location when that time comes. Was driving me nuts this morning when it suddenly moved to the side! Glad I did a research to see your tip. Thanks!
