How to get rid of a new tab on Outlook upper tool bar stating: Try the new Outlook. It recently popped up & replaced my "delete" tab, which is now inside the scroll down menu.

Edited to add: Note that the registry key applies only to classic Outlook desktop software (2016, 2019, 2021, Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 software). It does not work for Windows Mail.

You're talking about the button in my screenshot? It's not a toolbar but you can hide it using a registry key -

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: HideNewOutlookToggle
Value: 1

Start typing regedit on the start menu and when the Registry Editor comes up, open it.

Browse to the path, right click on the right side and choose New > DWORD. Paste HideNewOutlookToggle, press enter then right click on it and choose modified and choose modify. change 0 to 1. \

Restart Outlook.

    Further to my 11-Dec-2024 post <above>, Peter Deegan has written an excellent article on Microsoft's plans for migration to the "new" Outlook in this week's AskWoody Newsletter that is available to the general public (the full newsletter can only be viewed by users who make a small annual donation of $6 USD or more to purchase an AskWoody Plus membership) called Stopping the migration to Outlook (new). Unfortunately, the section titled Options for Windows Mail and Calendar Users states in part ...

    "The Windows Mail, Calendar, and People apps (supplied with Windows 11) are ending on the last day of this month. That’s the only current situation where people are being forced from their existing email setup.

    Microsoft wants those folks to use Outlook (new), but you’re welcome to choose another email client. There are alternatives, in no particular order ... "

    There's also lots of useful information in Peter's article if you use the "classic" Outlook in Microsoft 365 or any perpetual edition of Microsoft Office from 2016 onward and it includes the solution Diane Poremsky posted <above> on 12-Feb-2023 in this MS Answers topic on how to edit your Windows registry to remove the "Try the new Outlook" toggle in "classic" editions of Outlook.     According to the MS support article Outlook for Windows: The Future of Mail, Calendar, and People on Windows 11 :

    "Support for Windows Mail, Calendar, and People will end on December 31, 2024. We're currently in the process of moving existing users to the new Outlook for Windows. After December 31, 2024, users will no longer be able to send and receive email using Windows Mail and Calendar*. Any local emails, calendar events, and contacts stored in Mail, Calendar, and People will remain exportable following the steps in* Export emails and contacts from Windows Mail or People and import to new Outlook".

    As far as I know that 31-Dec-2024 end-of-life date applies to Windows 10 as well, so now would be a good time to start looking for a new email client. The feedback I've heard about the new Outlook for Windows progressive web app (PWA) that is replacing Mail and Calendar has been generally negative so far, so I'd suggest you try a third-party application like Thunderbird **** or eM Client instead. I haven't tried either myself (I use the "classic" MS Outlook 2019 that came with my MS Office 2019 suite), but Thunderbird and eM Client are both popular choices of users posting in the Email Clients (Non-Microsoft) board of the AskWoody.com forum. Just be aware that the free edition of eM Client is limited to a maximum two accounts. See Nick Lafferty's 28-May-2024 7 Best Email Clients For Windows: Free and Paid for a review of both products.
