How to get rid of a new tab on Outlook upper tool bar stating: Try the new Outlook. It recently popped up & replaced my "delete" tab, which is now inside the scroll down menu.

Edited to add: Note that the registry key applies only to classic Outlook desktop software (2016, 2019, 2021, Outlook in Microsoft Office 365 software). It does not work for Windows Mail.

You're talking about the button in my screenshot? It's not a toolbar but you can hide it using a registry key -

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General
DWORD: HideNewOutlookToggle
Value: 1

Start typing regedit on the start menu and when the Registry Editor comes up, open it.

Browse to the path, right click on the right side and choose New > DWORD. Paste HideNewOutlookToggle, press enter then right click on it and choose modified and choose modify. change 0 to 1. \

Restart Outlook.

i don't have microsoft 365 and have no idea what version of outlook i have either. ever since the upgrades past 8.0 have no clue how to find out about anything on the computer... I was very familiar with win 311. and win 98, XP after that i am at a total loss.

and i hate all these upgrades to "new FRIENDLY' versions NOT a fan

I am not using outlook. It is the built in windows 10 mail app. It is what is in the red box i want to get rid of. I Have tried the reg fix and makes no different on any users and no matter how many times i restart the computer. I just want it gone!

The WORST part of this is, I DID try the new outlook. It sucks. It has no unified inbox. The calendar doesn't support holidays. It's inferior to the Windows 10 mail and calendar app in almost every way.

What's worse is, it's not just a toggle button that you can accidentally hit anymore... NOW it's a big animated advertisement in your face every time you open Mail. I tried it, I said I didn't like it. I went back to the version I did like. NOW it bothers me even more than it did before... Just stop.

Hi,

may I hijack?
1. I created a new Key named "General" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options, then added DWORD HideNewOutlookToggle to General & set the value to 1. That did not work.
2. Next I added DWORD HideNewOutlookToggle to Key "Options" (or one level up), set the value to 1. Also did not help.
3. Then I did find "HideNewOutlookToggle" under HKEY_USERS\S-#-#-##-#######-###\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\General & it had a DWORD value of 0. Ah-hah, thought I'd found it. Unfortunately changing the DWORD value to 1 did not help either.
I did restart the PC between each registry modification. I have Administrator authority & no one else uses the computer. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Edit: Never mind, I was confused, thought perhaps this applied to the Windows "Mail & Calendar app". It does not. The "Try the New Outlook" toggle on Mail & Calendar app takes up a big chunk of the action ribbon, also quite inconvenient.
