Today ads started showing up at the top of my Outlook.com Inbox. They look like emails but I can't delete or block them. In the past ads did show up on the right had side and I could live with that but I don't want them at the top of my Inbox.
I want important emails at the top of my inbox not ads. And don't tell me that this is because I have a free account. My google email account is free and it puts all ads where they belong under a Promotions tab where I can ignore them.
How do I correct this?

This is taking an advantage, I consider this an invasion of privacy, I did not give Microsoft permission to use my inbox to send adverts, If I wanted to upgrade I would have done it a long time ago. Please rectify this unwanted intrusion.

I have the very same issue. I will give it a lttle time to see if they fix it. If not, I will be paying for a new email service without ads, but it will not be Microsoft.
Ruth, I agree with you. It's a pain to see those email ADS, and then I inadvertently click on one and wait until the browser opens and I have to close it. How long before it's more than just one ad and your Inbox is full of ads. They can continue to use screen space on the right but stay out of my Inbox. I think I'll check on Gmail also.
This is a gross violation. I go to a lot of trouble to block advertisements and yet here they are appearing in my inbox even though they should be blocked. How on earth has this been allowed to happen? What a stinky way to treat users. Whoever made this decision should be sacked.
I did find a work around. If I use the installed Windows mail app then there are no ads. I can still see all my email folders and have access to my contacts. Just need to get used to the format.
