New outlook not showing total email count in each folder on windows application

I guess our dreams are a bit different? I really want unread in the INBOX, like is currently displayed in the old mail client, so I can see if anything new has come in for any email address. Seeing total number of emails in the folder over 10 years really doesn't mean much to me. Though I guess if you constantly delete email or move email to other folders after addressed, that could be meaningful.

Oh yeah, that's not much use if it's just your archive with a decade of old mails. I have 3 main folders. Action Required, Awaiting Response and Archive. The first is for me to do, the second is ones I'm waiting to hear back on and the third is the archive.

I like having a total for the first two so I have an overview of what's on my books at all times.

Seems most of this discussion wants to see a count of total emails on the folder. I would like to see it setup the same way as the old Mail program, where next to the folder name, it shows the number of unread email in the Inbox. Has to be at the top folder level, and viewable without having to go into each email account.

This new Mail program is worthless unless one can quickly scan various email accounts to see which one's may have unread mail. Or am I missing something.

Possibly, it's a common management technique to store categories of mails in buckets until they are actioned/responded/etc. Being able to see the total count of these buckets, read or unread, is a cornerstone of this technique so having to hover to see the total count severely hampers the efficiency.

My workaround has be to change the folder so items have to be marked as read, they don't read automatically. That way I can move them around and they remain unread and the folder shows them in its count.

Settings > Message handling > Mark as read > Don't automatically mark items as read

As many others have stated, this is a deal killer for me. A large part of my daily tasks revolve around managing message queues, organized with rules. Being able to see the # of messages in each of my "Favorite" folders, at a glance, is crucial.

Microsoft - add this capability back in please! As long as I have the option to use "old" Outlook at my company, I will continue to do so.
