Access Denied in New Outlook

I am using the New Outlook and when I log in and click on a message and try to view it, I get an access denied message. Yesterday, I was told that I had to log in but I wasn't given that option. Today, I just get an access denied message with no log in recommendation.

I am an Office 365 Home subscriber, using Windows 10. I can get my Outlook messages by loading Outlook through Office 265.

    Hi, everyone.

Just make sure you are signed in Microsoft Edge before starting the New Outlook.

    That should resolve the issue.

Thank you so so much for this message, spent a few hours trying to fix this when it broke after the release of the new family safety annoyance. And this seems to have fixed the issue instantly :D

I am another person affected by this problem since last week. The workaround from @JariVolanen did not help. I am currently in a support chat. According to support is a known issue and engineering team is currently working on the solution. Below is the workaround from Microsoft, which did not solve the problem for me.

    Best regards

    Andreas

    Workaround Microsoft:

1: Remove the account from all devices and then add it again.

1: Open the new Outlook and navigate to Settings > Email Accounts.

2: Select Manage for the account you want to remove.

    3. click Remove under the account.

    4. when prompted, select "Remove from all devices" and wait 10 minutes for this process to complete.

    5. close new Outlook

Once Outlook is closed, launch the OneDrive app, sign out and sign in to the OneDrive app on the device.

Restart Outlook and navigate to Settings > Email accounts > Add account.

Enter the email address and then select Next.

Select Next to add the account

When you have finished, check that the problem has been resolved.

I have been asking support for a few weeks now for a solution to this problem with NEW Outlook's INTERNAL messages. I also sent a screenshot of the problem to support for them to see. I also got the same instructions as you (Settings --> etc.)

    Support replied on 4/7/2024:

“Since NEW Outlook is still in early preview, certain aspects may look different or may not work as expected.

From the screenshot collected, we can see that you are getting “Access denied” error in NEW Outlook with @outlook.com email account.

Our Outlook product development team has confirmed that this is a known issue in the latest Office build. They are currently working on a fix, but no ETA yet. We recommend that you keep Outlook up-to-date to receive the fix when the fix is released as an update.

Close New Outlook. Start the OneDrive app and sign out and sign in to the OneDrive app on the device.”

I followed all the other SAME instructions, except I didn't do anything for the OneDrive application – that seemed so "far-fetched".

In my case, the OneDrive application starts automatically when Windows starts.

Would signing out and then back in to the OneDrive app have been the SOLUTION - As we saw, it was not!

I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY WORKING SOLUTION FROM THE SUPPORT!

I hope Microsoft understands how SERIOUS and INTOLERABLE this problem is.

After all, this problem has been known already for about a YEAR – it is not a new problem at all!

Many users around the world wonder now on websites, why a company as big as Microsoft hasn't fixed the problem in such a long time.

Good working email -program is very important to most computer users.

                                           😒
