Inbox Email Count in New Outlook for Mac

What are they doing about this?
I can't believe the largest and most successful software company in the world has no clue how to make an e-mail program. But it appears to be true. There are more flaws in Outlook, but mail count is essential.

I started this post back in October of 2020, and 763 people responded with the same question. Two and a half years later Microsoft added a solution. If you hover your mouse over a folder name (including the inbox), it will tell you total emails in that folder.

This was two and a half years ago that you took a popular feature away and it has still not returned. I've stayed in legacy Outlook because that's a crucial feature for me. Why has this not been fixed after all of the complaints that started in 2020?

Here is the message count workaround I use on the Mac:

In the "New" Outlook ...

1. In the left panel, select the Inbox, or any other folder that you want to see a full message count (read and unread).
2. Click anywhere in the message list area and Select All (command-A on a Mac).
3. The message window will now display an envelope graphic with "XX conversations selected".

This gives you the message count for the folder selected.

FYI. Why Microsoft labels them as "Conversations" instead of Messages is beyond me. If you view your messages as "Show as Conversations" the count is actually the number of grouped conversations, not the number of all messages.

This isn't an ideal solution, but I just selected all emails and marked them as unread. This gives me full email count. I am going to either have to flag or sort by using folders going forward.
