this is my view in the "Day" tab. the blue time bar has disappeared. the one that advances with the current time.
In the week view, the blue line is there but it extends across previous days but not to the current one or future dates.
anyone know how to fix this?

Not a poster too much but this design "choice" is really bugging me on a daily basis. I'm not surprised people complain about this. Having a "current" timeline in the past makes no sense. Could you please get this fixed?
This "new 'current time' indicator" is a bug, not a feature because it does not do its job - it is not showing current time. It is an old Microsoft tradition - if something is right - it has to be broken or disabled. Please say I am not right and this bug is going to be fixed.

Just noticed that the Calendar in current MS Teams application, in the same MS Office 365 suite on Windows, shows this in a way I'd expect:

I've been working for ~9 months thinking that something small is broken on my Outlook install. To see it's a global thing, and that MS has stuck with it for all this time, is much more concerning.
I also almost just missed an appointment because of this bug. Went to search for this right away because it's really, really annoying! Can actually dent my reputation (diminished reliability - which is practically a currency in what I do) and ultimately even cost me (and others) money.
Am using the desktop version of Outlook for the first time in more than a year and will be using it on a daily basis for at least a few months; I will have to deal with this on a daily basis. I agree with most comments here that this is no feature but a bug. It never used to work like this and still doesn't in the online version of Outlook and it just simply makes no sense whatsoever to show where in your agenda you were yesterday at this (current) time (and not showing where in your agenda you are right now). Really hope MS solves this very soon!
