Outlook - Android - Storage Use

Hello,

I'm not the first one I think to ask this question, but I cannot find any satisfactory answer - Is their any way to control the space  used by the Outlook Android App?

I just removed the account the App was linked to this morning : it was going up to 1.2 G - managing 01 Email account - linked to 01 cloud.

Gmail app - to which 2 Emails account (same one and one other) are linked is using Gmail for a total space of 258 MB - and access to data, including files enclosed to the email, is as fast as with outlook app.

Even if I would like to keep going using Outlook app - it seams just to be impossible to use until the question is solved.

Hope Outlook developer will one day find the way around this question - or at least to allow to switch most of the data on the SD card.

The Outlook app in my Pixel 4a has the growing and shrinking memory already since weeks. Luckily, it never reached the overload threshold of my phone anymore. Everything between 150MB and 15GB is possible.

Actually , what disturbs me way more is that since a couple days I cannot reply or create new mails with the IMAP accounts anymore! Again!! That was working for a while, now again it says, “ ERROR ADDING RECIPIENT TO MESSAGE” or “FAILED TO SAVE DRAFT TO SERVER”.

Endless pain with this Outlook app on Android! Already half a year and still no obvious progress despite a dozen updates of the app. Why? Microsoft please tell us!

I've just reloaded my IMAP account - I'll monitor how it is over the next few days.

    Thanks for the tip-off

Something unusual has happened to my Outlook User Storage. 5 days ago the User Storage had, as usual, risen to 16GB causing the phone's memory to hit 100%, causing me to delete User Storage and re-add my IMAP account. Storage soon started rising again from a few hundred Megabytes to 10 Gigabytes. Then, just as I was expecting to again have to reset, the User Storage started shrinking. Every day it sunk about 4GB. It is now way down back to only a few hundred Megabytes. Amazing! Perhaps Microsoft has produced a fix - or it's an April Fool. I am watching to see what happens in the next few days.

Doing nothing in last 12 hrs and space used by Outlook has reduced by 5Gb - bizarre - still around 13GB though.

Interesting thread - and disappointing there has been no real acknowledgment / resolution from MS yet.

My Outlook app is currently sitting at 18.5GB - I assume this is what keeps causing it to crash / hang.

Problem is I can only use Outlook for my work email account (Exchange).

I also have 1 IMAP account (my main personal account), 1 Hotmail & 1 Gmail account linked to Outlook - I may try and remove them one at a time when I get a chance to see what impact it has...

    Very frustrating...

It would be interesting to hear if, when you delete each e-mail account, any particular one (IMAP, Gmail, Hotmail) is the cause of the problem or whether itis just Outlook regardless of the account type. 4 days after my last reset Outlook storage has now climbed back to 16GB and phone memory is at 98%. I guess I will have to reset again tomorrow morning. Sigh!
