Outlook Connectors - Placeholder on some inbound emails

On some inbound emails I am receiving a banner above the email text that says Connectors - placeholder.  We have no idea what it is or why it's suddenly there starting this week.  Some emails have it and some don't.  Doesn't matter if they are internal company emails or external emails.

We've checked add-ins, social setting, etc and now been able to get this to go away.  It does now show up on the web or mobile, and doesn't show up in Sent messages either.

Any way to get rid of this?  It's super annoying and takes up unneeded space.

    I am experiencing the same problem, and it's not a bulk email - just between two people with  no attachments.

    I'm getting the same thing. Using Firefox latest version - 78.0.2 (64 bit).

    Seems to mainly happen to people within my team, external emails, or emails from within my organisation, but from other teams, work alright. Not sure if it's a volume of emails received thing, or a relationship thing...

    Hi George

    I have started experiencing this issue this week (23rd July 2020) and appear to have solved it using your suggested solution.  I was having the additional issue that when I clicked on the email to view it in reading pane, the email took some time to fully load, with a blue wheel circling for quite a while (presumably searching for a non-existent sender image?)

    I am using Outlook 365 on the web, not the installed version, and the route to the appropriate setting is different:

    Go to Settings (cog icon) - View all Outlook Settings - Mail

    Scroll down to Sender Image and select radio button Don't Show Sender Images
