Microsoft Account Locked (Compliance Lock)

Hi,

When logging in to any Microsoft service I receive the message:

Your account has been locked

We’ve detected some activity that violates our Microsoft Services Agreement and have locked your account.

Unlocking your account

To unlock your account, you’ll need some additional assistance. Navigate to "aka.ms/compliancelock" and we’ll get you to the right place.

When I follow the link and fill out the form I received the reply that I violated the Code of Conduct and won't be able to access the services anymore. Any charges to my linked credit card will be stopped.

It does not tell me how I violated the Code of Conduct, nor does it tell me how to reinstate my account, while the form I filled out is called "account reinstatement". It also does not tell me how to retrieve my data.

The form states: "Your account has been suspended for suspicious activity, sending unsolicited emails, or for violating of Microsoft’s Terms of Use agreement, such as hosting photos, video or other content in violation of the Code of Conduct."

I'm pretty sure though I did not send SPAM or hosted/posted/shared inappropriate content. As for suspicious activity, I'm not sure what is included here, but I'm a basic user of the services.

What I would like to know is:

  1. How did I violate the CoC? In my opinion you can't just cut people off without providing a clear argument on what happened. As far as I can tell I did not violate any of the 10 commandments listed in the CoC.
  2. This account has existed for 23 years and never before has it been reviewed for any violation (that I know of). How can you just disable it and tell me I will never be able to use it again? (without providing any reason)
  3. How will I retrieve my data and access my purchased and payed for licenses?
    • Hotmail email conversations (not a priority as I don't use it for email and my last email sent was from March).
    • Onedrive data, including pictures of the early days of my children's lives. (I pay for additional storage)
    • Access to my Azure resources, connected to my MSDN subscription.
    • My (payed) Skype-In phone number I use for my business.
    • My MCP ID and transcript. This is my professional learning transcript but also counts towards my company's Microsoft Parnter Network competencies.
    • My digitally purchased XBOX games and apps (not a priority)

I've called and chatted with support, local and world-wide, for different services, but all are receiving the same answer from the CDOC team, as can be found under ticket number ***removed for privacy***, which I find unacceptable.

It's been 14 days now... Please help!

Regards,

Reinto_123

And just to bring closure to my journey... without notification, communication or anything I randomly attempted to login to my old account a few days ago and IT WORKED!

All my emails from the last 2 months were there and it was if nothing had happened. Unbelievable that MS just think they can unlock your account and not tell you about it.

Anyway, it was a happy end for me albeit about 3/4 months without access to my account.

Be persistent and don't lose hope. Keep logging tickets via the locked account form link that you get on logging in. Also when CDOC respond to you keep asking questions. I really think they've been experimenting with some AI algorithm that is screwing things up for loyal customers like all of us.

Anyway.... now that I have access, time to move to someone else.

Also, don't forget the golden rule - ENCRYPT EVERYTHING you can. Screw them!

Why are people still losing their jobs and personal lives, regardless of if they violated the COC or not?

Why is Microsoft still tight-lipped about the exact reasons we lose our accounts?

Why is nobody from Microsoft looking at this page and noticing that something needs to be done?

Why does googling this issue lead to those stupid useless irrelevant help forums than areas where people are suffering the same thing?

Why is this the one place on the whole internet where people are gripping about this totalitarian issue?

Why does anyone think that COVID-19 and the Civil Rights movement are perfect reasons for Microsoft not to work on this?

Why was TLOU2 getting leaked a much bigger ordeal than this one?

Why are people enjoying TLOU2 now as if the leak never happened?

Why is this issue right here still unresolved and still destroying people's lives?

Why aren't any famous YouTubers getting this issue so they can tell the world about it?

Why is this only happening to people who don't have at least a million people to hear about this issue for people to take notice?

Why do some people of this issue get second chances and warnings as opposed to other equivalents?

Why do people still not perish for being hypocrites?

Why would Microsoft still think everything is perfect on their end if they were to read these messages?

I don't know the answer to any of these questions. We don't know.

This is a nightmare come true. Somebody do something.

Good morning, I currently have the same problem, tell me what can I do? I sent several requests for unlocking, and my email is over 15 years old and I have important information for me.

Nothing, friend. Besides create a brand new email and build up your Microsoft account from scratch. And deal with every single loss you didn't deserve.
