When I open MS to Do app and open whether it is an email flagged or a task from my planner in teams when I try to open it, it opens in the web-based instead of the desktop. Am I missing a connector to my desktop or something?

I just discovered MS To Do & came searching for why the absolute 🤬 it would open in Web version & saw the varying responses that some ppl could or couldnt link to at least a lil something in the Outlook desktop app
I wish I could tag people in a Reply vs trying to reply to multiple (theres an 💡) but anyways in reading thru all the comments at first I thought the difference might be Win 10 vs 11 (My Win 11 machine is broken right now so idk) but I think its a devils in the details moment & it just needs spelled out cuz when I click on the To Do app it does indeed take me to the web version hence my arrival here.
However JW.SC & Michael V gave "pane" clues that we should be looking for a View like how you can show your Calendar right next to your emails (which Ive always done) vs opening the Calendar app (Sorry hard to write in snip app (easy text labels is another 💡)
And if you right click on a task from that pane, that seems to open the To Do app within the Outlook desktop app. Maybe this will work on Win 11 for others + MAC for Forced&Disappointed. And the desktop & web app versions sync flawlessly.
Maybe these are new enhancements since the original post but either way MS need to better relay these details to users 🤷🏾♀️
I still have a lot of testing to do as Im new to To Do but hope this helps them or somebody... if it gets seen that is... idk why you always see the oldest posts when you come across these. Why dont they pin the moderator answers to the top but then list the comments with the newest first or at least give some sorting functionality 💡 Somebody can advise if Im missing where u can do this

A year later & still the same issue as I came across this, but the link is broken... is there a new/different one plz?
I cannot seem to open emails from any Tasks or ToDo whether they be online or in the App and it's making me nuts. I am full sure this used to be possible in Office. There doesn't even seem to be a spot in Contacts where tasks can be added to people. I would be fine to add a task to a contact and then navigate to the latest email of that contact, or even be able to open a contact from a Task. Am I missing something or are these things really not possible in Microsoft 365?
