On several occasions, I have accidentally archived messages while typing them. Possibly sometimes while reviewing them. I have done this while typing a combination of keys. Lately, there is a prompt after it happens, and I can undo it. Previously, there wasn't. I have asked outlook support, but the person helping me does not believe me. He keeps insisting that it is E just because the references say so. However, I typed capital E multiple time in response e-mails, and it didn't do anything (thus debunking the reference). Also, it doesn't make sense that Microsoft would program a capital letter without any other key with it for a shortcut, when people might be typing it in e-mails. It could in fact, be in somebody's first name, so that doesn't make sense. I have given two reasons why it doesn't.
i am getting absolutely no help from Outlook support. I have told the person multiple times that I did not type capital E (besides typing it multiple times in the e-mail). These people also seem to think that unlinking my phone is the solution to everything. He knows that the e-mails keep getting archived by me typing on my computer' keyboard, but he wants me to unlink my phone to solve it. I sometimes feel like some of those people may just be searching for instructions to help people. Indeed, I have had a different problem that solved on its own after it was caused and fixed after an outlook update. Throughout troubleshooting, they also thought it would fix it by unsyncing my phone. That particular solution was given to me for three different issues, and for two of them, it was solved without doing so. The third one is this, but the factors involved prove it has nothing to do with my phone.
Please help if you have knowledge or experience in this issue. Archiving messages definitely has nothing to do with capital E.

It's a plausible theory, but that doesn't explain the dropped letters issue that is driving people nuts. It's almost as if Outlook can't keep up with your typing and 'forgets' the keys you typed as it tries to keep up. Grrrrrr
Indeed, there typical solution for this issue was to disable hot keys/shortcuts. Then they stopped responding altogether. Basically it is that they don’t know why people are having messages archive differently than the reference guide says (supposedly), and the programmers seem to keep changing the websites, so they told us to disable the keyboard commands so it might not cause a hassle.
Does this mean we may have different setups programmed on our accounts? At times prior, I saw my accounts were not all with the same setup. I think we should not have to resolve their programming issues on our own; whether it is regarding Microsoft websites or offline software. Also, someone recently suggested to me that the best support from them is paid. I think that for free email or subscription-based services, the support should be free, and there should actually be real support. People should have solutions and it should not go on for a year and continuously tell users to figure it out and it is always shift+e and if we disagree because it isn’t happening on our end (with archiving), just ignore us, or keep changing the programming and avoid the topic. Obviously, some of us like to cut, copy, and paste. I don’t know what archiving is for anyways. It likely still takes up space.

This accidental archiving happens almost every day when I am composing emails in Outlook 365 via a web browser (Firefox on an iMac).
For me it's not the E key, but some combination of keystrokes which I have not figured out yet; it may involve the shift key, but to have a hotkey use shift when the user is likely to be using the shift key a lot beggars belief!
Moreovoer, this has been happening since 2020: when I first realised what was going on, possibly after pop-ups starting appearing, I checked in my Archive folder only to find dozens of lost messages lurking there!
I also accidentally end up deleting emails in a similar way: typing away quite happily, only for a pop-up message at the bottom of the screen confirming if I want to delete an email or not!
It's clearly some bug in the software and how it interprets keystrokes.
I will try disabling hotkeys altogether and see if this works.
I wonder if them wanting us to see animations is why I can’t view the site on my iPhone? I’m not trying to change the topic, but I am stuck on the loading animation on my browsers. I do notice how much of a lack of help I get from outlook support on my tickets, and they always act like I don’t know what I’m talking about. I can show screenshots and provide links to customer complaints about the issues happening (such as this one about the archiving of emails), and they will tell me to provide a psr recording when I didn’t know how it happened. If I provide the latest update about how it happens, there is no response, and it seems they suddenly changed the programming. Their lack of support is disconcerting. Yesterday, a team member called me and helped a little regarding one issue that was happening on multiple accounts, but told me it was impossible to happen on multiple accounts and I must be confused basically because he knew everything and is in charge of that department. i feel like I would prefer some option besides apple, Microsoft or google, that I could move all software to, but that is not an option.
