Outlook calendar 'changes' appointment into a meeting after editing.

Outlook Calendar in MS Office Professional Plus 2016 (version 1803). Hello, this problem has just started (Friday 20/4) ... If I click and drag an appointment (diary entry) to move it on iPhone in iOS Mail app, it turns the appointment into a meeting and wants to send attendees an email. I'm the only attendee as I created what is basically a diary entry (appointment). So I get notifications that a 'meeting' has changed AND I get an email. It's crazy. It's all ok when I use the Office Outlook app on PC so it could be an issue with iOS??? It syncs all the appointments back to Outlook as meetings so I have to clear notifications and emails on PC and iPhone. Please help me to fix this as it's very annoying. Thank you very much....

    I've used Support and Feedback issues to submit this issue for Outlook Desktop and Outlook for iOS. It might help if other users also submit the issue.

    I started having the same problem of Appointments getting converted into Meetings after they are edited using Apple's Calendar App on my iPhone.  I got worse result when I attempting using  Outlook for iPhone - all Appointments look as if they are Meetings when viewed from Outlook for iPhone.  The problem started this week after update of Office 365 Home and update of iOS to Version 11.3.1.  Seems that Outlook Team needs to fix Outlook to restore Appointment functionality for both Apple's Calendar App and Outlook for iPhone.  

    Thanks MG .... it's not just me then. I agree with all you say as I've done test event entries via PC Office Outlook, iOS app and Outlook app. The 'New Appointment' on PC seems to create a meeting - me as organizer (poss Skype address) and me as attendee (email account). (The event is lighter in colour than an appointment and has a dotted line around it - does that mean meeting????) Creating through either phone app seems to give an appointment. I wander if deleting and re-installing my outlook.com account from PC Outlook would solve the conflict?

    Apple's built in calendar app is notoriously buggy when manipulating calendar items from Exchange. We tell our users to never ever do anything with a calendar item (except to look at it) in the native app in iOS. This has been the case for years.

    When we can we tell them to use the better Outlook for iOS app and then there are no issues with the calendar.

    This issue is definitely an Outlook one. I have used my outlook.com account through the in-built iOS app for years with no problem as stated by Barry earlier.
