The word on the street is that Outlook is wanting MFA.  So either you have to turn on MFA or disable ADAL

Fix get them onto MFA or

Close Outlook

Open Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

Create REG_DWORD

EnableADAL

Hi Sam,

Based on the error message, the issue is related to Trusted Platform Module(TPM). You need to check whether your TPM works correctly. You try to back up your data and clear TPM. It will reset your security processor to its default settings. For your reference:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4096339/windows-10-device-protection-in-windows-defender-security-center#clearTPM

For more details about TPM, you can follow the link below:

Regards,

Carlos

Wauw, thanks for this. I wish all my issues with MS products (current and past) were so easily and instantly fixed. I had to reinstall the Teams app and it took two logon attempts to get that right, but all seems to work now.

In our scenario, user was an employee working from home on a domain joined Windows 10 laptop.  I connected to our VPN client (cisco anyconnect), opened command prompt as admin and ran the gpupdate /force command a few times to get the policy updated.  After restarting, the activation/login worked as intended.

    Susan, thanks so much!!

You fixed a recurring problem i'd been having with Outlook, and one that my own IT team were not interested in fixing.

    Best
