Turn Off Advanced Threat Protection in Outlook.com

First, I have an @msn.com email address. This is not an Office 365 business email address!

All the links in my email prefaced with the https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com.  Looking this up is part of the Exchange advanced threat protection package which they talk about in Office 365 for business.  How do I turn this off for my personal @msn.com email account.  It is actually causing more problems for me than it "protects" me so I need to turn this off.  How do I turn this off?  Again, this is happening on a personal account, not a business account.

    I share your frustration, this feature is absolute garbage. Even leaving aside the privacy implications of microsoft monitoring all the links I click on, I am totally unable to decipher these links to decide for myself if I trust the url or not.

    This is the kind of crap that is pushing me very close to getting rid of the hotmail account i've had for close on 20years.

    Give me the option to disable it microsoft!

    Here in the Netherlands also the same problem on my hotmail account.

    It alters the links in my mail (unwanted!) for later archiving etc.

    It delays the opening of my links (and 2 out of 10 times it does not even work!!!)

    It as impact on my privacy and browse behaviour, Microsoft does not have to know WHEN and WHAT links I click in my PERSONAL email.

    According to the dutch support from outlook.com (Hey, I have hotmail, not outlook). Is is a new feature in the premium service of hotmail (the payed version).

    If I do not want it anymore I should stop paying they say!!!!!

    And 2nd I should go to "feedback" and ask there... "They really listen to you" the say... HA HA HA

    Microsoft: Opt-in this "servce". I do not want it!

    I moved all my mail to another mailbox (via Outlook fat client). I am SO happy to receive my mail on another account WITHOUT these crappy links. Did not know it was so good to see the links...

    Next step is to disable the premium (payd) part of hotmail of what indeed has been around 20 years my payd account...

    But doing this Microsoft made it a BIT awkward to do so because they WARN me with the messagethat when I do so I will  ot have access to my premium account anymore. Dont know what that means but I have asked support before doing so.  

    So sad it has to end this way but so happy that I am clean of of these idiot links :-).

    Agree with all the comments about letting users know you're doing something different - and about not being able to switch it off.

    Since Safe Links was introduced to my account (without warning or explanation), clicking on a hyperlink in an email opens up a NEW WINDOW in Chrome (not a new tab in an already open window) on my Mac and then.... does nothing. Zilch. Nada. It does not open the link I've clicked.

    I have to close the new window Outlook has opened in Chrome, go back to Outlook, right click on the link, copy the link, go to my open Chrome window, click to open a new tab, and paste in the link from the email.

    And this is progress?
