Can't edit contact details in Outlook Live

Since Microsoft "upgraded" Outlook Live a month or so ago, I've had problems editing details, such as email addresses and phone numbers, for people in my Contacts list. For instance, one contact's first name, last name, personal email, cell phone and two home phone numbers are editable: if I wanted to, I could put my cursor in the box and delete or type over them. But for some reason, the business number, which is no longer valid since the person is no longer employed, can't be deleted. The box is grayed out, and when I try to highlight the number with my mouse in order to delete it, the mouse doesn't work. This is true for other contacts in my list as well. Has anyone else had this baffling and frustrating problem?

    It's quite frankly dreadful, if not atypicalof the mess that is "Outlook" webmail.

    The only "solution" I've  found is to Delete the Contact COMPLETELY, and start from scratch with the updated contact info.

    Even that can be complex, and sometimes the "old" info appears, but it generally allows you to move on.

    And yes, MICROSOFT sucks.

    Sadly, so do all the other options!

    Carrier pigeon, anyone?

    Quite frankly they don't give a monkeys about us !

    I've lost count of the hassles I've had since hotmail was replaced with this pile of dung .

    When all your mail and contacts are tied up with it, it is a big deal to change, but I heartily regret the day I went with Hotmail.

    If it's any compensation [!], G-mail keeps making everything more unuseable as well.

    quite unbelievable that Microsoft are simply not paying any attention at all to our comments.

    Im sure they must be losing a lot of customers.

    Same issues here. I'm a long-time Microsoft mail user and I use my outlook.com contacts list as my single master list of personal contacts, it is not linked to any social media or any other accounts, aside from the unavoidable being linked to Skype fiasco.

    Certain contacts cannot be edited or removed at all as they are being pulled from my Skype contacts, and sometimes removing them from Skype works.

    Certain contacts have common fields like Email and Phone that are not editable, greyed out and show 'recently emailed' underneath those fields. This is pretty frustrating stuff, you'd think in general that major production email software platforms would move forward as the years pass, not backward. Why on earth would I not be able to edit and control a contact that I created?
