Outlook app on Android - "An Error Occurred" when trying to setup my account

Hello all,

Would appreciate your thoughts on the following situation:

I just installed the Outlook App on my Galaxy S5 phone (Android 6).

When I start it, I get prompted for an email address so I enter my work email (Office 365) and after a few seconds it looks like something comes up and then get dumped back to the "Get Started" screen with the most helpful error message in human history:

"An Error Occurred"

Wow! Where to begin?

I cannot make it past this screen to access any settings or options of any kind.

Guess what - the OWA app for Android works fine, but it doesn't have WEAR capability unlike the Outlook app.

Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    The very unhelpful "An error occurred" message is plaguing my Outlook (on Android) app also. The fact that there is no additional error information (not even an error code that could be passed on to support) is infuriating.

    The issues are on a Galaxy S9. I'd engaged Microsoft Support via the app and while they've tried to be helpful they have not been able to do anything beyond "try our latest build".

    This is only in connection with Office 365 accounts, one managed by a small business and one managed by a larger enterprise.

    I resolved the issue - temporarily - by going through a hard reset of my phone, but the connection with Office 365 broke again and the error is now reoccurring.

    For clarity, this does not affect OneDrive. The Android Outlook app works with non-Microsoft accounts and Microsoft personal (i.e. outlook.com) accounts but not with Office 365 accounts. The email accounts that don't work with the Android Outlook app work fine with other email and calendar clients. The Outlook app works fine on iOS for the same accounts.

    100% this was the answer.  **** microsoft...  Why did your authenticator app suddenly stop my email from downloading?  woudl not have found this on my own in my wildest dreams.

    please find us the solution, as there is not good compatibility in Android Outlook S9+
