Outlook email "groups" have suddenly disappeared; contacts still there but no groups.

All of my outlook email "groups" have disappeared. My "contacts" are all still there, but the "groups" I created are missing.

I see a number of others are having similar issues but no one from outlook has provided an answer, they keep asking the same questions: 1. Tell us how you check your email, 2. Have you made in recent changes.

After the recipients respond, they never hear back from the moderators again.

I use my email "groups" nearly ever day. However, when I woke up this morning, I found all my "groups" had disappeared from my account.

I use Windows 8.1; I check mail thru outlook.com via Chrome.  It is the same with Internet explorer.   It is also the same using the outlook app on my Android tablet.

I cannot find any way to create a group email. All my old groups disappeared. Now I would create a new one if I could find directions on how to do it, but I can't. Can anyone tell me how?

    Hi all

I started a similar thread entitled "lost Outlook Groups Feb 2016" some time ago. It is clear that this is a major problem affecting a wide spectrum of the Outlook community. I returned from holiday yesterday only to find that all the groups I painfully recreated had gone again. Microsoft's response registers about 1.0 on the Richter Scale. Does Bill Gates and the new MS Board loose their groups-- I bet they would solve it if they did. Why can't we just be told precisely what the problem is and how (if at all) it is being rectified. I now have to decide whether to stay or quit permanently.

    Well said Eric!

    Brilliant BasilTas .  Thanks

See my latest comment today. I then tried your suggestion. Fortunately when this problem first occurred I rescued some emails I had sent to the groups members and stuck them in a new folder marked Outlook Recovery. I have now recreated the groups in a fraction of the time--taken your advice and renamed them as well. Anyone else using groups would be advised from now on to BCC yourself on next mailing then keep that email in a separate folder for when you might need to recreate the group contacts.

Why is it that every 'improvement' seems to cause more problems that it fixes - although I didn't have any problems previously that needed fixing!

I have tried creating one group (with a different name) to see if it stays.
