Lost/stolen iphone - how to log out of Hotmail remotely

Sign out from everywhere option in Messenger client does not completely sign out the account in all devices were account is currently signed in but merely the messenger application on the device. There is no way to log out the account remotely in the lost phone but the first measure is to change the account password and report the lost phone to the service provider.

Since you have recreated the issue, and you have managed to sign out the Windows Live Messenger by clicking the "sign out from everywhere" since they are in "real time" connection whilst in Hotmail.com(web based), it will only sign out once you have triggered an action -- like opening a message in the Inbox.

Open HOTMAIL web on computer 1

Open Windows Live Messenger on Win 7 computer 2

change password

Tell WLM to sign out all sessions (it does not see computer 1)

go to computer 1

access messages without issue, except for things like change profile, which requires retyping of password.

There are several troubling items that devolve from this thread

1. HOTMAIL is quite insecure.  An accidental oversight on the part of a user (like leaving a browser window open) is tantamount to having their entire identity and economic future stolen by anybody happening by this open device.  This is easily fixed, but Microsoft appears happy to ignore the problem. 
2. Are MODERATORS employed and trained by Microsoft?  As I go through these forums, I see many MODERATOR responses that likely will not work.  I also see many questions that are not answered.  Some of these questions point to real bugs in the OS.

3) Do you ever  try any of the solutions that you have offered?  For example, earlier in this thread you suggested to download WLM.  That clearly does not fix the problem.  So why was this solution proposed without testing?

The one I have provided is a workaround for you to be able to sign out from different Microsoft services at once.

Since you have recreated the issue, and you have managed to sign out the Windows Live Messenger by clicking the "sign out from everywhere" since they are in "real time" connection whilst in Hotmail.com(web based), it will only sign out once you have triggered an action -- like opening a message in the Inbox.

However, the best way for this scenario is to immediately reset your password.

As for the quoted sentence "*How did *****@-o-o-o-.com get my hotmail address? Just guess it? I dont think so."; everyone can guess or just pick a random email address to send spams. Actually, there are a lot of ways that an end user can be infected by these unwanted messages. And still the best way to avoid this, is to personally secure the account and to randomly reset the password.

This is horrible. Not only does Hotmail suck in comparison to gmail but the users are doing testing for them and telling them how their product work. This forum is to get answers from you and not for us to tell you how your product work. 

And you should have your facts correct, which you do not.

I did some more work.  I <GAG !> installed WLM on a 64 bit Win 7 computer. 

If I sign in on WINDOWS LIVE in several computers, then I can see all of them from any WINDOWS LIVE signon.

But

I am signed into WL on this computer (XP)

I am signed into hotmail without WL on two other computers.  One is Win 7, other is Win XP.

This WL installation sees only one sign on.  So it appears that WL can detect other WL signons but NOT hotmail.

Just to be sure, I clicked "sign out from everywhere."

All of the WL accounts were terminated, but none of the hotmail accounts were closed.

Thus, we are back to square 1.

And we have a MODERATOR handing out incorrect information.

So the questions remain:

Why does Microsoft put products on the market that provide NO security

Why does my WLM keep making me available when I keep checking "appear offline?"

Why is WEBCAM enabled by default?

And GUESS WHAT? 

My hotmail is likely still open on some browser where I want it to be closed.
