In nine pages of this, has anyone else noticed the "Microsoft Forum Moderator" who "replies" is almost always a different person? If there's 30 "replies", they're from 28 different "moderators". (I didn't count really, but anyone who wants to can double-check
me).
Bottom line, they never have had any interest in making their consumer products work with anyone else's. Their solution, when not stonewalling like is evidenced in this thread, is that everyone should just use nothing but MS products, then everything will
be fine, as if that was realistic.
I've used MS stuff outside of work since DOS 3.2. It worked great until Windows came along. 3 years ago I got my first iPad, and this past Christmas I bought my first iMac. No they're not perfect, but they worked right out of the box, their call center
professionals are polite and knowledgeable, and they know how to sell stuff. My wife wanted a Surface Pro 2, but there were none in the Microsoft stores, or Best Buy, or Staples, or, or, or. They wouldn't even take her email address to let her know when
it might be available, or a deposit on the credit card we waved at them. They don't want to sell stuff.
At the Apple store across the street, they had us waiting in the Black Friday line until the next "Genius" was available, and that person came out to get us and walked us through the store, helped us buy what we wanted, and even told us what not to buy because
we could get it cheaper at [well-known computer place on the internet]. Called [well-known place], and they knew exactly what I was doing and were happy to help within minutes, and they did it right the first time.
Ok, finishing with a good point for Microsoft, their corporate development and sales does work well. That's where they make their money. Consumers, run and hide.
