Hello,
I have a Macbook and want to use my Outlook.com account on iCal. I would like to use this as my primary calendar to add all events and invite attendees so that it is in the Outlook.com cloud. I cannot seem to add it using the Mac preferences. Please help.

Choose Exchange and when it asks Username its your email address. Then it asks Internal Server and External Server so those are both outlook.office365.com. Worked for me.
Wow... just wow. For a second time in the same thread, someone has FAILED to READ the initial question. How is Apple supposed to know Microsoft's settings??? Let's try and make this a simple to understand as possible --- and NO the above is NOT an acceptable answer:
1 - The original poster has a Mac (OS X) - and wants to use their Outlook calendar within the iCal Application that comes standard with every OS X installation
2 - We both have attempted to add Outlook (the service) as an account in iCal (the application)
--- We are not trying to add a calendar @ Outlook.com
3 - Step 2 failed, because:
a) We don't have the correct settings -- please advise what settings should be used for a standard CalDav client
b) Outlook.com does not allow CalDav access
If you don't know what a CalDav client is, please Google it --- sorry -- Bing It
Simplified question: Does Outlook.com support CalDav access?
Vivvien_M - if you read previous posts; subscribing and importing a calendar is useless.
I'm just going to use iCloud and Google services - they seem to be the best options.
I'm sorry, I am not going to contact Apple. I am already paying Microsoft to use your cloud services; on top of that, I am not going to waste my time doing your job. It is your Microsoft's responsibility to make ALL cloud solutions cross platform capable if you wish to remain competitive.
...so again; why are you not elevating this issue to the right team that can work with Apple to get this option added? That's something we, the user community, depend on your help to do - I have no clue who at Microsoft or Apple to contact about this matter.

So when will Microsoft work with Apple to resolve this Outlook.com and iCal issue. I'm an Office 365 subscriber, and have been using Microsoft cloud solutions a bit more; however, if I can't have a two way communication with my local iCal calendar and Outlook.com; it's pretty much useless.
I suppose I can always go to Outlook.com to make changes; but it shouldn't be so hard. Microsoft was able to get Outlook.com/Hotmail calendars to work with Android and iOS; why is it so difficult to just offer the service on the iCal for the Mac? ...I can sync iCal with Google and Yahoo; why not Microsoft??
I'm sorry; but I get the feeling that none of you Microsoft Moderators understand our (Mac users) concerns. We simply want to be able to sync Outlook.com calendars with iCal on the Mac just like we can sync it on iOS, or just like we can sync Google or Yahoo calendars on iCal.
This is an issue YOU (Microsoft) needs to work with Apple if you want us to continue using your cloud solutions.
We do have other options (iCloud, Google, and Yahoo); but in my case, I would like to use Outlook.com since I'm a Windows 8, Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and Mac OS X user.
...so is there any way the moderators can just escalate this to the proper development team and get the issue resolved as opposed to just giving us work arounds?

They want to use the OUTLOOK.COM account within the iCal application on a MacBook (OS X, Apple, Macintosh). Please send the settings for a CALDAV enabled calendar application, such as iCAL. We DO NOT need subscription instructions for Live.Com...
