how to disable my messenger auto sign in on Outlook.com

I already read and search frm any ...but still can't solve the problems. Help~~~~ I don't want messenger auto sign in,  how  to turn it off..

As previous suggestions, just click for invisible, but it will also invisible at my Skype software too , I just want to sign out on the Outlook.com mail not the Skype software.

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused you on your end. Please be informed though that the option to sign out of Messenger in Outlook.com is not available. Like what the previous moderators have mentioned, the current option that we have is to set your status as invisible. Also, if you are signed onto Windows Live Messenger, you have the option to Sign out from the web, this would disable your Web messenger in the meantime.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Firstly, please don't swear. This is a family forum.

Secondly, the people on this forum, even MVPs, are not employed by Microsoft. We are just ordinary users like you who freely come on here to help other users. Demanding we "fix it" won't help.

Thirdly, I quite like outlook.com but, like you, I don't like the current messenger issue. It's one of the few hassles I have with outlook.com. Microsoft are not likely to see much of what is posted on these forums as they are only for supporting users, but if you use the link below you can leave feedback.

I can see you wish to turn off Messenger in Outlook.com. Let me see how I can help.

I've simulated my Outlook interface and found out that the steps below turn off Messenger in Outlook.com:

1. Sign in your account.

  1. Go to People or Mail Page.
  2. Click on the human figure symbol and click on Invisible.

If issue persists, please let us know so we can help you further resolve your issue.

    I do not use Google, Facebook, Twitter, or any of the more obvious social networking sites.  When I was using Hotmail, it was easy to find my Hotmail contact list.  Now, it is not so apparent.  I may have deleted all of the contacts in my Hotmail address book and that's why it's no longer available. 

    I used to use classic Hotmail for my primary web mail.  But, Outlook is nothing like Hotmail.  I don't like it as I did Hotmail.  The changes seem to be targeting those who are much younger and have mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.  These are the people who feel compelled to stay connected to the Web 24 hours a day. 

    It would be better if my outlook.com experience could be customized to suit my purposes than for me to try to fine tricks and tips to undo or block those features that I neither want nor need. 

    At least now I have the messenger blocked.  I really did not appreciate having to see those people's avatars in my inbox.

    totally and wholeheartedly agree with the above.. you can play catchup with google and facebook as much as you want but it seems you are not gaining anything from it while making your core users frustrated and disappointed for the last 3 years... the departure of Balmer and Sinofsky was my hope for the better. I still hope you find your way back to the developers and the enterprises and stop playing silly games with the fickle google users.. wonna get them - give them another android. don't carve windows and underlying services to be good for no one.

    and to the point - if a user have desktop Skype there is no point to have the same stuff copied in the browser... IS THIS REALLY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?

    try to have a voice call when it goes through the Skype and then few seconds later the same but at much higher volume goes through the web browser - it is unbelievably annoying.. and the browser call needs to be shut down by hand because it doesn't know the call was just answered in the Skype...
