Exchange ActiveSync won't sync contacts on Android

Hi,

I've been having a problem with Exchange ActiveSync on my Android phone. Calendar and E-mails sync fine without any problems. However, my contacts won't sync properly. My contacts sync the first time I set up my account on my phone using Exchange ActiveSync but afterwards if I make any changes or add new contacts on my phone then it won't sync to Outlook.com. The same situation arises if I modify or create a new contact on the web at Outlook.com; I don't see these changes being synced to my phone. 2-way syncing is not working for my contacts.

I have removed and re-added my Outlook account on my phone multiple times but the problem persists. I am using a Nexus 4, running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1

Can you please fix this?? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient. I don't want to use the Hotmail or Outlook apps since they are very limited in functionality and a big battery drain on the phone.

Thanks.

    Hi John.H,

It is good to know that your contacts sync problem was resolved by reconfiguring your account on your phone. Regarding your new concern on being unable to edit your contacts synched by the Outlook.com app, I'd like to request that you please post this in to another thread in the Outlook.com mobile forum. This is would ensure that the issue being addressed in this thread would solely focus on mobile contacts sync issue.

In creating a new thread, please include there your mobile device model, OS and OS version. Also provide some details regarding the issue like the exact steps you're doing in trying to edit, any error message, if the problem happens to all contacts etc.

In the meantime try to remove the re-add your account on the Outlook.com app and see if there will improvements.

    Hope this somehow helps.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I am having the same problem where my contacts aren't syncing from or to my Live/Outlook.com account from my phone (email almost fine and calendar work fine).

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (European version)

    Android 4.1.1

I add my account using Exchange ActiveSync using:

    • ******@hotmail.com as my username
    • Server: m.hotmail.com
    • Port: 443
    • Accept all SSL certificates
    • Use secure connection (SSL)

On my Microsoft account, I have the following third party accounts linked to my Microsoft account:

    • Skype

Email sync's,  but I get an error message " Connection error (Hotmail)"

    Thanks in advanced
