How do I permanently disable MSN chat in Outlook?

I never wanted to be able to use the MSN chat while checking my emails. I was able to disable it via hotmail but now this option is gone. The only thing it lets me do is turn invisible. It doesn't let me log out of the chat without that also logging me out of my inbox. Please fix this or let me know how I turn the chat feature off without resorting to an ad blocker. Thanks!

We apologize for the delayed response to your concern as we are now having a high volume of support request from customers. We appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts to our feedback page.

Rest assured that Microsoft is reviewing what customer's have posted there to consider the features that should be added in the new Outlook interface for product development. Currently, we don't have an option to turn off automatic log in to Messenger, you can just turn your profile as "Invisible" while checking your emails.

    We all agree that privacy is as important as communication. However, the current design of Outlook.com does not have the feature you are looking for. The option to turn on/off your Outlook Messenger status while you are online is not available at the moment.

    Outlook.com experience will continue to improve. Evolution is based on cooperation. Microsoft values customers' opinions and feedbacks. We recommend you to share your thoughts by posting to our Outlook Feedback page and you can expect to see many improvements in future releases.

    Workaround:

    Add the below line in hosts file  (%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

    0.0.0.0      geo.gateway.messenger.live.com

    You really need to add chat disable button, i open outlook to read my email not to chat, why do you force me to open, facebook chat, msn messenger, skype chat whenever i need to check my email?

    I hate chatting, please add a sign out option.

    You also need to add a button to let us get back to email when we open the account settings, once we open the account settings we can't get back to email, have to reopen in new window or tab.

    For MS windows 8, you need to do a lot of change, or actually you need to undo a lot of changes you have done, the new start menu is ugly, the new unuseful navigation of windows viewer is super ugly, and there are a lot of really useless changes done which does nothing except confusing the user by changing the button places
