Hello -

When I attempt to add my outlook.com email account to any iOS device I recieve the error "Unable to verify account information".

I see this problem on my iPhone 4s and iPad and all devices are running iOS5.01 with no additional updates available.

I followed these steps to setup my account

-settings, add new mail account

-selected Hotmail

-entered my outlook.com address (full SMTP address - eg ******@outlook.com) and my password

-after several seconds I recieve the error "Unable to verify account information"

Power cycling the devices doesn't help.  Everything works fine from the web.

Any ideas?

sign in to what account on the web browser?

Just upgraded to iOS8.0.1 and had exactly the problem described. I went into Outlook through a browser, disabled my phone and turned off 2 step security and boom... It worked just like you said. MICROSOFT - you need to fix the bug!!!

[Solved] - the issue has to do with Microsoft Two Steps security process.

To solve the problem, go to your account on a internet explorer, click on your name (top right) and select the Account Configuration, now go to security and privacy, additional configuration options, deactivate two steps verification process. Place your password and BAM...

Add the outlook account on your phone (settings, mail accounts, add an account, outlook, user, password, add)...

Two steps verification process is a good way to protect your account, so if you want to activate it again, simply go to the same web page in which you deactivated. Now choose activate, it will ask you if you have an iPhone sync with your account, simply select iPhone link and it will provide you with a password to synchronize your phone... use this password when your phone asks for it... done

Your account is protected, your phone is working normally and your passwords remains is the same.

    Good luck mates :)

When using outlook on my MacBook Pro I cannot get my password to be accepted.  I can log in with a browser and it is just fine, but continues to give me the below message when trying to enter in mail.

    ******@hotmail.com
