How do I merge my Live.com and outlook.com account into one

I have a windows Live ID and just signed up for a new outlook.com account.  I'd like to move/merge my Live.com into the Outlook.com account, but I just see am option to add another email account or Link anither account.

All this does is create two seperate identities to switch back and forth.  If Outlook.com is the new way things are going then I'd want to just manage the one address.  Can't lose emails, calender, contacts already in Live ID account.  Thanks

Use two browsers, [this procedure has risk of losing your id and is not officially supported procedure]

Browser 1

  1. Login to hotmail/msn/live (where you want to grab)
  2. Go to renames page or alias (whichever you like)
  3. Type in outlook.com address that you want to transfer (do not accept yet)

Now you're ready to grab it

Browser 2

  1. Login with your outlook address (that you want to grab)
  2. Rename this account to your gmail account (this will change your @outlook.com to alias)
  3. Login with gmail, confirm through verification mail
  4. Go to accounts page and close the account (enter password)

This is will drop your alias and make it available for a grab

Browser 1

4.  Try grab, if it says already in use. Hit it again. It takes few seconds to release the ID.

    I already had them linked, any idea why i havnt been able to rename my hotmail to oulook thats what i really want, I renamed the outlook account, which made the original into alias, then deleted the alias folder. That should clear it our for use after 30 days. but it hasnt worked? also i tried to create and alias on my hotmail (using the outlook address I want) it says I have added the maximum number of accounts...what does that mean?

    Hi Everyone

    Currently, Microsoft account does not support merging accounts. However we have these sets of work around that you can opt to do:
    Customers can link accounts with the following steps:
    <ul><br><li>Autoforward all old account mail to new account. This way customers will have all of their mail in one place, and can reply to it using their new address.<span><br></span></li></ul>
    <ul><br><li>To forward mail, log in to the account from which you want your mail forwarded,</li></ul><br><ol><br><li>click the <strong>gear menu</strong> at the upper right.</li><li><strong>Choose More mail settings</strong> from the dropdown, </li><li>Then <strong>Email forwarding</strong> from the <strong>Managing your account list</strong>.<span><br></span></li></ol>
    <ul><br><li>Link your old account to your new account.</li></ul><br><ol><br><li>Log in to one of your accounts,</li><li>then click your<strong> user name</strong> in the upper right.</li><li>Choose<strong> Account settings</strong>. On the left side of the screen,</li><li>Click <strong>Permissions</strong>, then click <strong>Manage linked accounts</strong>.<br></li><li>In the new screen, choose <strong>Add linked accounts.</strong><span> </span><br></li></ol>

    I actually did switch to Win 8. It wasnt too bad, it guides you through it, it would be better for a tocuch screen but the start screen is still very useful, and the normal desktop is one click away, just besure to select keep all your programs and files. Oh and the refresh thing should only be used if the the computer is glitchy. it sweeps the computer of all unneccesary programs or drives. A good way to restablize, but only after trying other options. And the desktop is just like win 7, so cool, it actually boots faster, and there is less down time, and supposidely there is a boost in battery life. I actually am thinking of getting a tablet, but I want that dang outlook email address back, so I can have a fresh start, and a good sized skydrive for free.
