When trying to add my old Hotmail alias to my Outlook account, I get this message: "This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address."

How can I add my Hotmail account to my Outlook?

Hi,

As I understand you want to accounts to share one mailbox. Let me assist you on this.

If you have two Outlook.com accounts, you can’t add this as an alias for the other since they are already Microsoft account.

If your third party account was already registered as Microsoft account, you cannot also add this as alias. You can only add an existing email address as an alias if it is not yet registered as Microsoft account.

If you want to manage several accounts in one mailbox, you can use mail client like Windows Live Mail. You can also use Outlook.com to send and receive emails from other account that uses POP.     Welcome to the Microsoft community forums

    If you are having problems with your Microsoft email account, I would advise filling out a Microsoft Secure eform. This way the Outlook Moderators are able to look into your account, and sot you all out, privately. Because of the nature of this problem, and the level of Personal Information needed, it is not best to have such topics on these forums, as they are public.

    it seems as though that microsoft has taken my other email address and totally removed it from their system.  tried logging in and comes back with error message that email address does not exist.  

    well it existed before microsoft and their dumbed down mentally pulled the stunt that they did.  really intelligent, but that is bill gates for ya.

    Take note that since you used your new alias as the primary alias for your account, you will be using the new alias to login to your account, and not the old one. You have received the "Account does not exist" message when logging in the old alias, since you have already removed it.

    Your emails should still be there, you just need to use the new alias to login.

    Are you referring on a system that lets you switch back to your hotmail accounts without having to login and logout individually?

    If so, I don't think there's such feature that's implemented on Outlook.

    An alternative would be to simply have your email addresses automatically logged in on 3 different web browsers. You can login all three at once without having to signout in each of them.
