Outlook.com Calendar birthdays sync issue

Calendar is connected to your contact list in People

• If you add a birthday to a contact in People, the birthday will be added to your calendar.
• If you add a birthday in Calendar, and the name you enter matches someone in your contact list, the birthday will be added to their contact.
• If you add a birthday in Calendar, and the person isn't in your contact list, they'll be added.

Here is my user experience with these features:

• If I add a birthday to a contact in People, the birthday will be added to my calendar most of times. For some reasons, some contacts birthday in People will not show in the Birthday Calendar, regardless of time for sync, syncing manually, deleting and re-adding the birthday in People.
• If I add a birthday in Calendar, and the name I enter matches someone in my contact list, the birthday will NOT be added to their contact, but instead, a new contact duplicate will be created in People.
• If I add a birthday in Calendar, and the person isn't in my contact list, they'll be added. This works just fine, but I find it the least desidarable feature of the three: what if I just want to remember a birthday and do not want that person as a contact? - i.e. Small kids, very old aunts, my favourite novel author, etc.

Are there any actions, that I am not aware of, I could do to have all People's birthdays synced with the Birtday Calendar?

The other reviewed case consisted of only an Outlook profile.

We see it confirmed another time:

• Birthdays disappear and sometimes re-appear in calendar by random
• All types of contacts are affected: standalone Outlook.com contacts, linked contacts, standalone Facebook/ Skype etc. contacts
• Manual sync of birthdays calendar doesn't resolve
• Deleting and recreating the birthdays calendar might result in more or less complete listing of birthdays on short-term - but it doesn't solve the service bug in general: birthdays will randomly disappear and re-appear again

Issue must get escalated.

Birthdays calendars' sync processes need to be analyzed.

Service needs to get fixed.

Any kind of serious support is highly appreciated. We're all curious about findings and results.

Today most birthdays were again missing.

The error was present on different computers logged on with the same account.

I reviewed two of the entries. 

The first was a People account which consisted of an  Outllook and Facebook profile linked together.

Both account contained birthday information.  I unlinked the profiles and refreshed the calendar. 

Two birthday entries appeared.  One for each profile.

The other reviewed case consisted of only an Outlook profile.  I first edited the account and saved it without making changes.  Refreshed the calendar.  No change.

I then added a new birthday item using the same name.  The birthday was immediately visible.   After a minute or so, a second Outlook profile for this person was in people.  I merged the two records and refreshed the calendar.  The entry remained visible.

Other entries consisting only of an Outlook profile are still missing!

I was on the Answer Desk for 3 hours, so you might want to get hold of that log. After that I deleted my birthday calendar, created a new one, deleted all birthday events, re-entered them and cleaned up my contacts on https://people.live.com/
