I am tired of all the junk mail I get. the more I block the more I get WHY?

I have tried and tried to block all the sexual emails I get in my Junk folder the more I block the more I get.  WHY?  There is not a way to restrict them I have tried.  Please I am so tired of them.  I want to close my Hotmail account I have had for years, that is how sick and tired of them I am.  Because my name is the email account you just let anyone post email to it? I would hate to close my account, and I like my name being on it.  How can I fix this it is important.

* Added on 21 July 2022 because so many people are being brought to this thread by a search.

If outlook.com is sending these messages to Junk, they're being (in outlook terms) "blocked."

You cannot create a rule to delete or do anything else to these messages. Rules don't work in the Junk folder.

Look through the Junk folder every day or two to see if legitimate messages were sent to Junk and delete the messages that really are spam/junk.

We're sorry for the inconvenience as you're receiving a lot of Junk mails. Let me see what  I can do to help you with this problem. Just to make sure  I won't be providing you same steps, can you please give us the exact steps you've taken in blocking those e-mails? Let us know.

If you haven't tried blocking the e-mail address or domain whose sending you those e-mails, I suggest that you do so. Check out the following steps:

Check your Blocked sender list.

Sign in to your account. Go to inbox.

  1. Click Options located at the upper-right side of the page.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Under Preventing junk email, click Safe and blocked senders.
  4. Click Blocked senders. ( add the e-mail address or domain/website in the field under Blocked email address or domain: )
  5. Click Add to list >>.

    I am having this problem too and my kids get on my computer and sometimes my email is still open!!  Come on Microsoft, do something!!  I have used this email address for over 15 years and I will switch to Google or even AOL if I have too.. this is ridiculous!!

    I am tired of blocking all of these senders...I have upwards of 30-40 a day...all with numerous numbers and letters as return address. What is going on here? Its absolutely invasive and inappropriate! Sexual content with photos which I have had to block all pictures in junk mail.

    Need a better option than blocking hundreds of emails each week!

    Blocking does not help -- especially now that the email addresses sending this stuff are strings of numbers.  They change the number and the junk **** mail keeps coming.

    Until recently, I could identify a key word in the titles of these emails and filter them out.  That capability seems to no longer be available.

    I, too, am considering abandoning hotmail because this is so annoying and disgusting.  I have done nothing to get my email into the hands of people who send this kind of stuff.

    Moving from hotmail/outlook.com won't help. Spam is an issue with all email systems. In fact, Microsoft works very hard to reduce spam, even taking legal action against spammers.

    Feel free to move to another email, but the spam will still exist.

    I have been with Microsoft email since MSN with no problems.  I even beta tested MSN back when

    Microsoft first got into the email market.

    I have never had my email address spoofed.  Now, my email address has been spoofed and I get

    bad emails from my account.  As this is a business account, I can't change it.  I can block bad emails

    from any address other than mine.

    My question is why can't we use the IP address of the bad account to block these emails?
