Powerpoint 16.15 (180530) Save as PDF - images are blurry

Even when PDF export quality is set to high - the images on the PPT are blurry when using PDF export.  The images are fine in the PPT itself.

Choose Help>Check for Updates and in that dialog, check Join the Office Insider program to get early access to new releases. Then choose Office Insider Slow for fairly well-tested code or Office Insider Fast for advanced features with more bugs. Don't choose the latter on a computer you use to get work done.

This issue has been fixed in Insider Slow channel since build 16.15 (180701) and in Insider Fast channel since build 16.16 (180702), and it should reach the rest of our users soon. Please update your builds and let us know if the problem is not fully resolved.

    1. Did you use version 16.9 in Jan 8, 2018? Or some earlier version like 15.41? 

    A: I don't know what version I used on Jan 8, 2018. I can't recall. I looked in the App Store and the 30 days history doesn't show any Office updates. Is there a way I can verify this more accurately?

    1. Can you repro with this way: File>Export to export the presentation as a pdf file?

    A: I used File>Export to produce a pdf file.  It's size is also big (1.2 Mb) as with the Print command of yesterday.  It is still significantly bigger than the Jan 8, 2018 pdf file which is 324Kb.  Additionally, the File>Export command is not suitable for my requirements because it does not allow me to place 2 slides per page.

    1. Please use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

    A: I booted in Safe Mode and produced a pdf file with the Print command.  The file is still big (1.2 Mb)

    1. Could you share that presentation and the two pdf files via Private Message for us to investigate?

    A: I sent you 5 files over Private Message: (1) the original pptx file, (2) the small pdf printed on Jan 8, 2018, (3) the big pdf printed on Jan 29, 2018, (4) the big pdf exported on Jan 30, 2018, (5) the big pdf printed on Jan 30, 2018 in safe mode.

    I was able to find a quick fix by using a web site that provides PDF compression services.  However, that makes the process of producing a pdf much more complex.

    Please keep me updated.

    I have tried to repro this behavior according to your instructions but failed. I am not sure whether it’s because I saved the presentation to pdf file two times in one day. Could you confirm whether you can repro this behavior in this way?

    In the meanwhile, since we can’t repro, we might need more information:

    1. Did you use version 16.9 in Jan 8, 2018? Or some earlier version like 15.41?
    2. Can you repro with this way: File>Export to export the presentation as a pdf file?
    3. Please use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.
    4. Could you share that presentation and the two pdf files via Private Message for us to investigate?

    1. Do you mean you choose File>Export to export the presentation as a pdf file?

    A: no, I go to  File>Print>PDF dropdown>Save as PDF.

    1. Please let us know the size of that presentation.

    A: The presentation size is 2.1 MB. It is a pptx file.

    1. Please confirm whether this behavior occurs with all the presentations. You may create a new file to test.

    A: Yes it occurs with all presentation. As an example, I printed different presentation.  The pptx is 3.1 MB.  The pdf I produced on Jan 8, 2018, 13:11 is 324Kb.  The pdf I produced today is 1.2 Mb.  There was no changes made to the presentation.  Although the problem is not that severe in this case, the size of pdf produced are consistently bigger (5x to 30x)

    1. Is there any special content in that presentation like pictures or video?

    A: no videos, but several pictures, mostly graphics. Few ppt animations to make images or bullets appear.

    5: Please provide your OS version as well.

    macOS High Sierra version 10.13.2 Supplemental installed.
