Why is MS Teams jumping to a different chat than the one I chose to be in?

Same issue. Type something in one chat/group, hit enter and BAM! it's into some other random chat. A major concern!! One can accidentally type something not meant for that other person's attention without realizing. The issue was raised in July, it's October now!
Is MS even doing anything to fix this bug? No hotfix/patch yet?

You have Microsoft Teams version 24243.1309.3132.617. You've got the latest version. It was last checked on 04/10/2024.The client version is 49/24090101421.

P.S: Also happens if you react to someone's chat with an emoji.

The thing is, for me it's not just when I'm typing. Sometimes it will just jump to another chat when I'm not even touching my KB.

Found at least one way to replicate this always:
When you are in an active chat, go to Teams (channels) area or for example Activity. When you return to Chat, you will notice you return to the same chat you were in earlier but the text box is not active anymore, and the first letter you type, like H from Hi will indeed take you to the first chat on your list that starts with H, so for example a chat with Heidi. It is easy to miss you jumped to a different chat, and thus you accidentally type your message to Heidi.

This is of course an information security and privacy risk, Microsoft is basically creating Data breaches to customers all over the world. People might accidentally share sensitive info about health, personal data, or company financial / legal etc. details. It is a major risk and I am very surprised this has not been fixed already.

One thing I do nowadays, is after any large Teams meeting with multiple participans, I leave the chat immediately after the meeting from Options - Leave Chat. That way I prevent myself from sharing sensitive information to large audiences by accident.

Based on your further description, you may have a try to disable hardware acceleration. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Disable hardware acceleration" and see if the issue persists.

If the issue still persists, there is a sensitive forum that is responsible for consulting and questions about Teams. So I sincerely suggest you publish it on Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Community Hub. Engineers there who are responsible for consult about Teams will provide you further help.
