Double beep when muted on Teams Shokz Headset

Hello

I see a lot of threads and people moaning about Double beep when muted on Teams when using a Shokz headset which is the problem I have. (Headset previously called AfterShokz)

I use a work computer so do not have admin rights, and muting shoks headset by pressing the +/- volume keys does not stop the beeping noise.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Neither workaround work for me as well (pressing both buttons, using the small microphone button). I don't understand why Microsoft is not fixing the problem? It started after Teams update, many months ago.

Another workaround that works for me (probably should work for everyone), but not convenient by any means is as follows:

    • After muting, select the computer microphone (not "audio devices", just the microphone. SHokz will say "mute off", but you will still be muted
    • If you want to unmute to talk, select Shokz microphone again temporarily and unmute

Again not a solution, but a workaround to get by for now.

I saw a thread on Reddit (here) where Shokz was aware of it, and if you submitted a case, they were shipping free Bluetooth dongles that solved the problem. I saw a post somewhere that they are longer shipping them for free, but you can buy one for $49.95. I have opened a case, but didn't even get an email acknowledging my case. There are other brands of bone-conduction headphones, and I bet I can get a decent pair for < $49.95.

I don't know if this is Teams, Windows, or Shokz-related, but it's annoying. The Shokz are great for calls. I don't like earbuds as I can't hear external sounds, and it makes it harder for me to gauge my own voice volume, which is why I like the Shokz. It sounds like this may not be strictly related to Shokz, which makes me think it falls on Microsoft.

    Hi Sajjad

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately the workarounds suggested n the links so far doesn't work for me.

The only one I haven't tried yet is using teams online rather than the windows download. I will let you know about that one when I I do.

I fed back on the other forum you mentioned and hope they resolve this issue soon.

    Best Regards

    Simon

    Hello Simon,

My name is Sajjad, and I am an Independent Advisor. I will be working with you in order to resolve this issue.

A workaround seems to be not using the regular mute button in Teams but instead using the small microphone button in the device settings of the meeting. Audrey says "Mute on" and after a few seconds "Mute off". No more beeping afterward.

That worked for me and apparently for some other users with the same issue.
