Please upvote the thread below in the Microsoft Feedback Portal. Clearly nothing is done here:
That reply really just seems like an extremely convenient way for you to avoid listening to the customers.
We are paying for this service and do NOT want this feature. Not only that, its actually delaying communication and causing a constant daily frustration.

You do not have to type in the subject line, or "add a subject". Simply start typing in the lower message box and hit send. The "subject line" disappears when it is posted.
Cannot agree.
All these posts sound like if Microsoft had forced them to add a subject to their chat messages.
But posts in a channel are (in my world) not a quick message but something thought out and informative for the team. Often also starting a thread of chat messages below it.
(Without a new subject line indeed)
I would suggest to use a group chat instead for these complaining users. Maybe this helps?
