Why is when i use the "New" teams, my taskbar doesnt show status just says "new"

Trying the New teams, instead of my taskbar showing me a checkmark or away status. the taskbar teams just says "New"

    Dear Microsoft.

    Forgive me for being honest, but I don't care if you call your MS Teams "New" or "Old" after the update; just please give us back status icons.

    I just realized that the version I have (23306.3308.2524.1744) is a preliminary version.

    How do I get that preliminary version? I otherwise have to use the classic edition until then. Mine currently shows 23285.3607.2525.937.

    After installing this I went to Settings -> About Teams and this prompted me to downgrade my Teams version back to 23285.3607.2525.937.

    When I did that my status magically appeared :)

    Taskbar worked for me before. Tray icon down by the clock doesn't update. A new teams client got pushed to my pc this morning, I haven't toggled the "Try the New Teams" button yet today.
