ft and right arrow keys have no effect in TEAMS BUT left-arrow + CTRL moves left one word, and right-arrow + CTRL moves right one word. So it is clear the arrow keys on the keyboard are functioning and sending signals to the computer. I also tried my laptop built in keyboard & the number pad. All have the same effect. What could be making the arrows by themselves not work? (Up and Down arrows work normally.)
1. Is it a laptop or desktop computer?
Laptop
2. What is the make and model of the keyboard?
HP laptop keyboard & logitech external
3. Was it working fine earlier?
Yes at most an hour before
4. Were there any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?
No. Maybe I inadvertently hit some hot key?

I tried closing excel and it did not work for me. I also closed word as well, just in case. The left and right arrows still don't work in chat message box. I then tried outlook, Visual Studio, and MSSQL. Still not working.
Potential Reason for this issue could be Microsoft Excel.
Hi All, in my case I have noticed that this only happen when I open Microsoft Excel at the same time.
As soon as I close the excel , MS team behave normally and does not need restart.
Can you let me know if you also experience the same thing ?
Well, I am glad to see I am not alone - but dismayed to see so little action on getting this resolved.
I am on a Thinkpad PV15 with a dock and a dasKeyboard. None of that should matter, but wanted to mention it in case it is something hardware related. I cannot see how. Teams is all Javascript so there should be no hardware interaction.
Like others, this only happens in Teams (when it does, the arrow keys work everywhere else still). the SHIFT/CTL tricks others have suggested also work here.
Should we start a twitter campaign #MSFixThatArrow lol... seems to be all companies respond to lately
Probably silly but an observation against a driver/hardware issue:
For me the left/right cursor keys only break down in the Chat editor. When Chat breaks, I am still able to compose / edit messages in a Channel and have full use of the left/right cursor keys there.
Switching between Chat messages and/or messages in a Channel conversation does not fix or break the situation. Chat remains broken, Channel keeps working.
Shift/Control combos work fine in both Chat and Channel.
