Keyboard Back and Forward Arrow Keys Not Working in Chat

When I am typing in the message/chat window and I want to go back using the arrow keys on my keyboard it doesn't work. The cursor doesn't move at all. I have to use the mouse to move the cursor. I am running Teams on Windows 11 22000.318, Teams version 1.4.00.29469 (64-bit).

On a side note, I have also noticed that typing the three ` no longer puts me into Code Snippet mode.

Agreed with all the others here, Arrow keys cease to function on MSFT Teams Chat however seem to function in all other applications.

This occurs intermittingly, I've attempted to toggle scroll lock, unplug/plug-in peripherals, and close all other applications besides Teams.

Shy of performing any workarounds, the only temporary fixes I've found are either quitting and launching Teams Client, or restarting the computer.

Issue has been present and identified by others since December 2021.

This happens to me all of the time as well. I have force Teams to exit - (yet another ignored bug in Teams) and it's fine for a while but eventually happens again.

It is terrible, I can't find a reason for when it comes and goes. But it is definitely the Teams client alone.

All other applications and the OS are fine. Teams, not so much. No arrows for you! It makes simple corrections a much longer process and is just aweful to user.

Best workaround, check “Disable GPU hardware acceleration (requires restarting Teams)” in Teams Settings/General and then restart your Teams.

And what makes you say it's the "best workaround"? You've tried all the workarounds independently and in combination, waited weeks to see if and when the problem would return with each combination, and conclusively determined that just disabling hardware acceleration works around the problem the best?

Or you just switched off hardware acceleration, restarted Teams, and your arrow keys were working again so you assumed it was the hardware acceleration, and not just the fact that you restarted Teams?

same exact problem. makes you wonder why it hasn't been fixed yet? people within MS do not use Teams, and thus have not run into the bug? or they have seen the bug and do not know how to fix it? anyways...

this is how i "fix" it. if you X out of the app and go back in, that doesn't help, right? we all have tried that. i have the app pinned to my taskbar, so your steps may be slightly different. after i exit the app (click the red X on top right corner), i then right-click the icon on the taskbar and select "Quit". then get back in the app. you will notice it takes a little bit longer to startup than when you just exit and go back into it. it seems that exiting the app leaves it running in the background. the Quit makes it really get out of memory.

p.s. i went to the app icon through the normal start button search or scroll through the list. in either case right-click on the icon also shows the quit option.

    good luck
