MS Teams crashes when EOS Webcam Utility is used for Video

Hi,

I am using Microsoft Teams for my school. I am using EOS Webcam Utility (NOT Beta) with my Canon EOS 80D. It was working perfectly with video calls for school up until about two weeks ago. Now, whenever I turn on my camera in a video call (and the video setting is EOS Webcam), my Teams crashes and I get an error saying, "There was a glitch. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please sign in again."

In my school, there is an expectation that my camera is on, and my computer's webcam is unusable, so I really need this fixed, and quickly.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

Kane

    Hi Michael

Interesting that the US site has 1.1 and EU only has 1.0. I tried 1.1 but it crashes teams as does 1.0 and 0.9 which I just tried. Looks like there is an issue in Teams so I'll just keep using OBS for Teams :-(

Interesting. Lucky you that it works after you join... no matter what I do, even if I am in a call already, if I turn on my camera (or switch over from my fractured webcam, which works but the image is distorted), Teams goes down and I get an error message saying something like, "There was a glitch. Restarting...".

    Hi Kane,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this issue.

Firstly, I would suggest you follow the below basic troubleshooting to avoid common issues due to app cache:

    1. Manually restart the app by right-clicking the icon in your dock (Mac) or taskbar (Windows) and selecting Quit. After you quit, click the app icon to open it again.
    2. Go to File Explorer, delete any of the files in the following locations:

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\application cache\cache

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\blob_storage

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\databases

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\cache

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\gpucache

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\Indexeddb

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\Local Storage

    • %AppData%\Microsoft\teams\tmp

Also, If the above method still not working. To determine if this user's teams client issue, we would like him to try to login https://teams.microsoft.com/ and see how it works.

    Regards

    Nik
