Loud Beeping when Muted in a MS Teams Call

When using my Aftershokz OpenComm during a call, I hear a loud beeping noise when I mute myself during the call. This beeping only goes away when I unmute. I've contacted Aftershokz, and they've assured me this is due to a recent MS Teams update causing connectivity issues.

I've also read other non-Microsoft forums and realize this is apparently an issue since 2021 with MS Teams and multiple brands of headphones/headsets. However, it only recently started for me today, April 18, 2022.

Is Microsoft doing anything to solve this issue? Is there a solution to this?

It seems to be making many users upset and frustrated. I'm surprised Microsoft hasn't addressed this yet.

Yes, this works but as you said that you have to keep doing this every time you mute in Teams. This workaround is great if you are not going to mute/unmute frequently in a meeting or presentation. I have been using the web version of Teams to avoid all the hassles in the situation when I have to go on mute/unmute frequently.

In other meetings apps like Zoom, Goto Meeting, or Google Meet, I do not have any problem with the loud beep during the mute period. I think part of it is because these apps are web-based.

It is very annoying, only tip I have is if you are attending a conference that forces you on Mute do it via the web Teams client as the beeping does not happen on that version.

BTW: My system is using the Intel Bluetooth stack, I wondered if it is this that is the problem as I know one solution that AfterShokz has provided via warranty was to send out a bluetooth dongle.

Updated mine as well but Shokz OpenRun Pro still have the same beeping.

Only workaround that works for me is changing microphone in teams to computer. When I need to respond back to the meeting, I'm at the ready to change it back and unmute.

Seems like every teams update they fix 1 thing and break 2. Never-ending.

I had this same problem recently, seemingly triggered by a Teams software update.

However... after reseting the (AfterShokz) headset and enabling multi pairing it seems to have fixed the problem

I also did a full reset, but did not help with my OpenComms

Open settings and click reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults. Beeping stopped immediately
