Any updates on this? We are experiencing the same thing for a number of users within the same team.
I've been working with my internal support but so far no answer.
After reading through lots of threads from the last 3 years, it looks as though this is either an old problem that recurs from time to time, or an old problem never actually solved.
I think the two best candidates for the culprit are:
- Operating in a hybrid environment of Skype + Teams (we do this right now)
- Something in the way the Desktop queries for updates is broken, so it sees the new activity in a Teams Channel and updates the notifications, but it does not pull the new content into the channel itself.
Sadly, Microsoft itself doesn't seem to have any solution.
A few notes:
- I have confirmed that the mobile and browser versions of Teams do not have this problem. I can have the Mobile, Browser, and Desktop versions open simultaneously. When any activity is detected in a Teams channel, the Mobile and Browser versions both update automatically and show the updates in the channel. The Desktop version will see the activity and show the notification, but steadfastly refuses to show the content in the Teams channel unless you force it to by uninstalling/reinstalling or by deleting the entire cache and restarting.
- I have also confirmed that this is ONLY Teams channels - not in Chat.
- Currently running an internal survey to get more insight on this issue.
