Hi there,
My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.
Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

This bug has been present since 2018. How can this software be classed as professional. Bring back Skype for Business, its so much faster, better features, uses less data and actually gets the status right! I.e. I'm Available when using my computer.

According to the official knowledge base, your current presence state automatically changes to Away when you lock your computer or when it enters idle or sleep mode. If you don't want the status to change to Away automatically, as a workaround, you can minimize Teams and display it in the taskbar at the bottom of your PC.

Not that being the 1,379th poster matters, but I also have the same issue. It is incredibly frustrating because our management watches for individuals who are 'Away' and it creates a false perception of our availability and productivity, especially now with a lot of our work being remote with our clients. Teams was heavily marketed as the best solution to the COVID remote workforce dilemma, but this is a huge missing piece. Having to constantly open Teams and generate activity just to prove I'm available makes me far less productive. Strange for an app that is supposed to increase the productivity of our workforce. Need to create or find a feature improvement request on this and upvote it.
Don't you guys see? Microsoft wants us to neurotically click into the app every 5 minutes so our status updates. When product managers show "performance" they'll say "look! people are constantly engaged with our platform!" This isn't a glitch, flaw, or accident. It's designed to inflate user interaction stats.
I just noticed this is happening to me as well in the last couple of days. If Teams is open, but minimized it will change my status to idle. I then have to click into Teams and move the mouse around to change it back to available. It doesn't matter if I'm actively working on my computer or not. I've tried manually setting the status to available and it does nothing. There's also no setting to prevent my status from ever going idle. I don't understand that one. I prefer to manually set my status as I use both the desktop and phone app.
Whatever this last upgrade was caused a lot of issues with the app on my phone as well. I'm sure Microsoft is pushing upgrades fast to keep up with the WFH demands, but they really need to make sure they're giving QA time to test these first.
