Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there,

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

Thanks!

Having the exact same issue for a couple of days now. Regardless of being available, being in a call or even just busy in teams in general, it shows the status as away - even if you manually change your status, it remains this way???

I have a similar issue where I will set my status to "be right back" and sometimes when I come back and resume working I forget to manually switch it back to available. On occasion I've been working for quite some time only to realize I'm still showing as "be right back." It would be helpful if there was a setting in Teams that would allow users to select having Teams switch back to available status upon detecting activity.

I get what you are saying AnnRad, that viewpoint is good (assuming our micromanagers now don't think we are not working).  But to many of us, those who work as large teams it's productive and useful to know if a certain teammate is actually available to speak/join in on a conversation about a key subject.  Happens often.

I've chatted with CIO's/leadership and it's a Microsoft Teams custom design most leaders love and do not want to disable once Teams is implemented within the organization. To most micromanaging managers, this helps them keep their employees on the ball/on their toes and constantly cognizant of making sure the employee is non stop working. Meaning: It's a reverse phycology mechanism used so that employees stay put at their home office desk because they know once they walk away for a couple minutes, that yellow "Away" status will appear fast. Basically, it's just another "Big Brother" application to help monitor and gauge an employees work performance virtually.
