Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

ive got a 2021 macbook pro (M1) and see the same issue, thankfully it doesnt get to 100% and the fans dont kick in, but it does get hot and the two processes still use between 5 and 50% consistently. I turned off hardware acceleration and that has helped a little

We have noticed this issue Microsoft Team Helper takes certain amount of CPU for mac, we will continue investigating this issue and seeking help for our related team.
Once we get any information, we will let you know as soon as possible. Current if it is acceptable, we would like to suggest using the Teams web, which you can login through http://teams.microsoft.com/

I can actually see two Microsoft Teams Helper (Renderer) apps running at the same time in the Activity Monitor. Both using up on average 560MB.
Is this normal, should I be only seeing one of these apps running?
This is on a brand new Mac Book Pro.

Same here. It was fine for two years - now my 2018 Mac gets hot and fan goes on when on teams.
The renderer is eating up most of my CPUs capacity now. Annoying.
We must be going for a record!
Sitting here with a colleague right now in a Teams meeting using a Macbook from 2020 and the fan is going loud and strong! An absolute joke!!
Two years later, is there still not a fix for this?
