MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

    Yes it's worth using in the sense that it will stop Teams from completely melting your Mac. But it's not a solution, the problem remains, Teams will still occupy close to 100% of the (non boosted) CPU.

    I have a feeling nobody at MS is looking at this. How can we attract them to this topic ? Can someone raise a complaint/ticket with their help desk or i don't know.

    It has no effect in my case.

    I installed turbo boos switcher to disable turbo boos. Now it's less hot and noisy as before but the application still grabs 100% of the CPU.

    I had this problem for a while, usually only when at the office but sometimes at home too.

    I realized today that it happens when I have a second screen connected (which I seldomly do at home). As soon as I disconnect the second screen, the CPU usage comes back to a reasonable level.

    And it's not just a matter of having the second screen connected, it's more intricate. The graph below shows an example of the processor load during a Teams meeting with ~10 people, 4 of which have their camera on. (I have a MacBook Pro mid-2015 running Monterey.) Before point 1, the laptop is not connected to the second screen. At point 1, I connect the second screen; still normal usage. At point 2, I drag Teams to the second screen; still normal. In the mean time, I start Firefox and overlap the Teams window; no unexpected increase in the CPU load. At point 3, I drag back the Teams window to the laptop screen; CPU starts pedalling hard. At point 4, I disconnect the second screen; CPU gets slowly back to normal.

    All that to say that a workaround that seems to work for me is to disconnect the second screen, at least temporarily. Hope it helps.

    I have this same issue and it is INFURIATING. How has this not been resolved. I cannot attend meetings with video or desktop sharing, I have to attend from my iPhone or iPad. I do not have this issue with ANY other webinar provider, zoom, webex, etc.

    I would like to try this out, however I am totally fresh to macios, how do I run this script? Tried script editor and using the terminal window...
